http://www.spiritplumber.com/WCU/armadatest.zip then run armada.bat once unzipped. DO NOT UNZIP IN THE WCU DIRECTORY, it's a standalone (54Mb approx).
This is part of why I disappeared (I was giving what little help I could for VS multiplayer), the other part being a NAVCOM AI, a real one, which I'm designing as part of my thesis.

Some progress on the multiplayer front!
My Moral Code:
- The only sin is to treat people as if they were things.
- Rules were made for people, not the other way around.
- Don't deceive. Real life is complicated enough.
- If all else fails, smash stuff.

Thanks!
Did you try that? There should be a system with three planets... you can use the [ key to talk to anyone who might be in. Also, the reason why there are 2 of each ship in the setup screen is that if you can't login with one, try the other (if you still can't, it means both slots are in use so try another ship).
I should be around this afternoon.

bad -- an update is required, download http://www.spiritplumber.com/WCU/armada_update.zip and unzip it in the directory where you put the piearmada net client. Good -- it's the first and only time you will ever have to do it because this included an auto-updater!!!

Downloaded and extracted the multiplayer client. Did not find an "armada.bat" but did find a "wcvs.bat". That seemed to work, although I got a "could not find ...wcvstest\modules\*.pyc" Didn't get an option to use the guest login, so I registered for one and got in. Nice graphics!
Test results: Autopilot worked only once, so logged out and back in; worked fine then. Using the mouse led to uncontrolled turns--figured it worked like Freelancer, but couldn't get the hang of it. Joystick worked ok, but my throttle maps to left roll...interesting. Keys didn't adjust throttle, or rather, the throttle would go up or down, but went right back to the previous setting. Also tried this with no mouse or joystick; no change.
Chased down and killed a rapier--I hope it was unmanned.
