Having some problems in Vega Strike

Postby DOSMan007 » Fri Jul 19, 2019 7:29 pm

So for starters I load up some cargo at the Oceanic planet Atlantis, and then Launch, CTRL+M, set for the Mining Base, and finally dock, sell cargo, load cargo to sell at planet, Launch, go from Mining base to planet, and so on and so forth.

The problem that I'm having is, let's say for example if I'm next to the mining base, but not facing it, and I shoot AWAY from the mining base all of a sudden (sorry for caps) BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! And now I'm about half jumping out of my chair, THEN some females voice comes screeching over some intercom system, which is very loud, all the while I'm just trying to find the heck out what is shooting at me. The one time I was heading to the mining base, slammed right into it and dead. It was like everything in that area was working backward I had throttle set to nothing from full, didn't matter, SLAM!! and dead.

I dunno, I'm beginning to get a little frustrated.

Welcome aboard DOSMan sounds like the mining base took a major insult when you fired and decided to end your fun :( early in the game you have to be careful as you do not have a local reputation which you build by taking a few combat missions to show your reliability but the starting weapons on the llama kinda suck  have a look around the forum find the cash hack for the save file which is just a text file so any text editor will do the trick even Notepad though I prefer Notepad ++.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Starting weapons are simply useless. It's better to sell them right away for more good cargo. In rare cases when you see something hostile in that system before you get much better gear, the best solution is to fly toward a base (preferably fighter barracks) and turn behind it. The station catches shots, gets upset about this, and blows the attacker into tiny little bits, probably faster than a Llama with good equipment would. Also, being fired upon by several turrets is likely to distract the attacker from the target which merely evades.

Well, yeah, a Llama full of cargo (especially metals) loses much manoeuvrability.
The best approach is tangential, so if you don't slow down in time, you merely overshoot and turn for the next attempt.
The second best approach is straight toward the dock square (it's highlighted after you request docking). Velocity is zeroed on docking, so just jam the "dock" button, and this prevents collision even if you can't stop on your own.
Since the retro thrusters are weaker than main on most ships, turning backward can shorten deceleration, too.
Also, it's a good habit to set the reference frame to your destination manually. You need to target it (which probably happens on its own) to request docking anyway, so could as well tap Set Reference (Home default) while you're at it.

Thanks for the reply Loki. I know the starting weapons are horrific, which is why I was doing the cargo missions, to try and build up some money to get a better ship. But my main concern were all of the loud and distracting sounds. And the non-existent sound and music options. As in, most games have slider bars you can raise and lower for how loud the sounds are, or how loud the music is. It's just one default sound, blast your ears off. I was on Skype with my friend sharing screen and showing him the game, so wasn't possible to just adjust the volume wheel on the headset because then I wouldn't be able to hear my friend talking.

In any event I still feel as if the original Privateer and Privateer Righteous Fire are closest to what was good. While I did play Gemini Gold, I didn't like the fact that the mouse controlled the ships yaw and pitch, and so, if you wanted to use a joystick for Gemini Gold, as soon as you launch, you have to make sure the mouse is perfectly centered, because the ship will keep pitching or whatever. And I'm not sure if there was an option to turn that off. I want to use the mouse at the concourse, but not when I'm in flight. That was the nice thing with Privateer, the mouse wasn't locked into flight mode.

It's just mostly frustration at this point. Thanks again.
