Whitestar

Post by zog_the_primitive »

Hi folks. This mod looks pretty dead, but I was wondering if anyone had the bsp and cvs to a Whitestar. It looked as if etheral walker had one, but he hasn't been online for quite some time. I guess the next question would be if said model could be modded into VS-0.5.0.

Thanks

If you can find a free model of it somewhere there should be no problem provided you can convert it to the format that VS uses. I don't think there is a copy of any of the B5 stuff anywhere though so if you want feel free to start up a new mod for it. Easiest thing to start with would be the csv values followed by the models I think. Again, provided you can find free models that are released under CC 0, CC BY, CC BY SA, etc. To keep it open and free stay away from any CC NC or ND. NC is non commercial, don't remember off the top what ND is...

ND = No Derivatives

Which makes it kind of useless.

I might have a copy of all the models; I vaguely remember ethereal emailing them to me some time ago.

Emailed them over.

I meant to mention in the email; not sure of the license of the models. (I have no idea if such information is included in the rar files.)

Just checked my email and got them, thanks. I'm going to see if I can mod them all into a normal vegastrike game first, then I'll work on making an entirely new universe. There are some things I need to learn before I do the latter part however.

sorry, I don't lurk around anymore (need more free time....)
I hereby announce that you are free to do what you want with all my work on VS
let's say it's under wtfpl licence.
It would be a shame, if someone want to continue and finish my work (I was definitely too young, such a huge mod need more than a one man army), if some licence crap stop him/her.
I recently saw some issues with wtfpl licence over ogre3d forum, because when studiying it might appear that it is not compatible with mit licence or some other opensource one: don't wait five years for me to give an agreement to proceed if you have some doubts about licences compatibility, you have my agreement, do what you want with my work, don't waste your time thinking about legal issues;p
Do your best to finish it, I'm eager to play a mod/game I was too young to drive to its completion;p

You should make a sticky announcement on this forum where you release everything you have done under the CC0 release. CC0 is the hydrogen bomb of releases, an international release into the public domain that leaves no legal encumbrance standing in its debris wake. It works equally well for code and content, there's no need for separate licensing between the two. And as far as I know there are entirely no controversies over its legality or compatibility.

wtfpl has a really cool name, but you get the idea while speaking of CC0;p
I don't have anymore the rights for a sticky post, I aready received PM about one model or another (and then granted full rights) and I won't fight for those rights for just one post.
But feel free to do so, Deus Siddis, I here sign with my blood my approval;p
One thought (just a quick note for the younger ones, english is far from my native language), I saw you created you created an inactive status for (at least) Hurleybird, I don't see any recent posts from Hellcatv or any of the ancient ones, why don't you create a "stone age contributor" status for old ones who still answer something each five years?
yeah, I know, I ask too much...

I do believe we have a founders group ;) which should do for that class of old timers.

It is if you live in a country that has a legal concept of a public domain. For completely backwards nations that don't, the CC0 has fallback language that releases as many rights as possible under the local laws.

So it is essentially a global public domain release.

here you have your (almost) sticky;p
It's a shame the old forum went to /dev/null, but regarding all the meshes/textures I did for this game (some translations too, but mainly 3d/painting work), well, being in such a group, with rights limited to nothing but seeing where something huge from our past is heading, would be quite nice;p
