Yeah, have a nice trip, Snow_Cat; and I can't wait for the rest of that story; it's very interesting and promising.

If you can figure all that python code, that would be great.
It could even end up being used as a template for similar future paradigms.

I'll be happy to summarily execute all spammers if someone gives me administrative rights
A lot easier than deleting all the spam.
And it's not that there is much doubt that they're spambots...

Could you request a promotion to admin from Hellcatv or do you not have his contact info?
A forum should always have an active admin around anyway.

I do have him... just that since I haven't seen him around the forums for so long I just didn't even think of asking him
But you're right... he must have admin access.

Re: Continued absence.
^- -^ Meow;
It's been a chaotic couple of years.
I haven't even had a working machine for more than a few months at a time, and rarely one capable of running VS (and about 1/3 rd of the games I own).
Anycase;
I did say that it would take two years to developing that subplot, and I guess the "Content Contributor" approval (two years later) means that it is time for me start... on the first week of next month.
Where should I direct my attention when I do return?

Re: Continued absence.
This has come up in your absence, actually. I started one a plot here, but I'm only so-so of a writer, and inspiration has not struck in a while.

Re: Continued absence.
Since I wasn't here when you were I guess the biggest question (and also since its been a few years anyway) is where your talents are. Story, python, csv?
Right now I think what needs the most attention is the wiki. Its heavily outdated in sections and hasn't seen any love in a long while. Also would be the easiest to start with if your time limited in what you can work on for now (and until you can get up to speed on all the changes since your absence).
Beyond that... just need to know where your interests and skills are to get a better picture of where to point you to. Glad to see your returning

Re: Continued absence.
I was thinking something similar. The atrophication of the Wing Commander side of things is a shame, and likely worsened by not being able to sign up new accounts on WC Junction. (I tried and never got the activation e-mail. Maybe I'll mention on the site rebuild thread to do a new WC room.)
Still in need of story writers.
Pheonix is right, the wiki could be a job in and of itself.
Not to mention the pending economic system rebuild.
Glad to see an "old timer" back, just jump on in!

Yeah, wikifying all your VS experience will probably help other people help.
In any case, if you want to revive the WC mods, they will require a lot of updating (to be compatible with the latest code).

Well...
The topic started way back here.
It died with little progress and restarted (in the same thread) here.
Most of the current discussion has been here.
The down and dirty is that
klauss' post takes you to the end of where we are now, an new point of view is most welcome!

The down and dirty is that
- The economy needs to be dynamic, responding to and generating game events.
- Goods come from logical places, including ships and upgrades.
- The price of goods includes those goods necessary for their production.
- The markup on goods needs to include the difficulty and length of the rout needed to get them there.
- Basic Supply and demand should be used.

Re: Continued absence.
Say, is there some sort of opensource/software arts grant coming up?
I've gotten emails from many diffrent groups asking for my time these last couple of weeks.
I have some ideas for the cargo handling, but other RL priorities are takign up my time. I'll post when I am able to.
