Wantet donation for a new server and colocation

Post by www2 »

I plane to buy a server for the Vega Strike and rent some space in a server rack.
The back ground of the dis idea is that current webservers of Sourceforge very limited e.g. sites can not send mail and can not connect outside the server connection.
And the older site we can built a stronger community and put new service like multiplay/mmorpg

But i start a donation pledge for a amount of €2235,16 euro
and i start with €300,- euro in this found racing.

And if the server is on-line i put the ads on the site and a donation button on the site for the bear the cost of the server maintenance and colocation / domine registration

The cost of the for setting up our own server:

server
A dell Smart Value ! Dell™ PowerEdge™ R200 (SV2R200)
cpu Dual Core Intel® Xeon® E3110, 3.00GHz, 6MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB
4GB of ram
2x 250GB HD in a RAID 1 configuration
OS: debian or ubuntu
1174,64 include tax and delivery cost

colocation in amsterdam wit a 100mbit/s and 100GB of data traffic in a month € 40,65 p/m inc tax for the first year

one time setup cost for the colocation
€ 75,00euro € 75,00

reseve for spareparts € 500,00 euro

and this come to a total of: € 2235,16

btw i am planing putting a donation script on my own webspace.

I am guessing it would go to a paypal account rather than a bank account. I would give a donation, but I don't have a credit card (*yet* hopefully).

Cought me at a wrong time... Lost my job, and lost my savings in the stock market...

I wish you guys had taken me up on my offer to colocate you on the PU (wcjunction)
server. I pay $99 per month for that server, and we're not using even a fraction of
the available space and bandwidth (160 gigs, and 2 terabytes per month).

Now that I'm in dire straits, you guys could help me pay for it. $50 per month each.

What how did you lose your savings? :S I thought they were called "savings" because they're safe :P

He said "lost my savings in the stock market". The stock market is not a bank savings account. I would never consider the stock market to be a safe haven for my money. Even investments in large "safe" organizations can be lost when that organization missteps and goes under.

Even banks go under and one can lose one's savings. In the USA we do have the FDIC which insures bank deposits. But the FDIC only guarantees up to $100,000 in the event of a bank failure. So, someone over 50 with long term life savings in a bank is likely to have much more than $100,000 to lose.

My savings were only a few G's, anyhow; and what I said should be clear: I took the money
from safety, and risked it in the stock market, and lost it. Was my writing really so obscure?
And I did it all over again, since I posted that. Well, I haven't officially lost the money yet; my
options expire the third Friday of January; but in all likelihood they will expire worthless.
(January $50 FAZ calls; paid US$140 per contract. But no thanks to Goldman Sachs,
FED money printing and the PPT, markets keep going up seemingly forever...)
