So whats everyone's favourite Star Trek movie then?
My favourite would have to be Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country. I don't know what it is about that one, but it's pretty good.
The only one of the next generation movie's I don't mind is First Contact. The latest movie needed ALOT of work. It felt like a 45 minute episode that had been stretched out to movie length.

I used to run the Klingon mod on one of my BBSs..WWIV IIRC. I used to speak it, but haven't for a decade.
Ahh Klingon.
Devised by an actual linguist to be as completely wrong for humans as can be. The syntax is backwards...basically everything you say is reversed (reversed is say you everything basically), and the vowels and consonants are whatever is most difficult for a human to vocalize.
Ya gotta love it.

I'm with Shrike.Bazza wrote:So whats everyone's favourite Star Trek movie then?
that would have to be my favorite even-numbered Trek. My favorite ODD numbered Trek (just to give them a fair chance) would probably be Star Trek Generations (number 7). I think that one was the most underrated Trek movie of all.

favorite movie first contact, hate kirk!
nemesis great ship battle not very good story.
Maybe if data survived and became captain with worf as his first officer, that would be entertaining.
Enterprise is not bad if you force yourself to forget everything in the other shows that contradictes it(almost everything).

They could have done a lot of things to make Nemesis better. I think it was definately a decent Trek movie... but it could have been more. I think it got screwed by paramount at the box office, though. Who releases a genre movie in between Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings? Fools, that's who.
I treat Enterprise like I do a new fantasy book setting. The wizards all still cast magic missile, dwarves all still live in mountains, and the elves all still have pointy ears (like the Vulcans)... but they're just not in the same world.
Enterprise isn't nearly as bad as I expected. I am pleasantly surprised.

I personally didn't think nemesis was that bad a movie.....the worst that could be said is that it lacked a bit of depth to the story (but isn't that true of star trek in general?)
I've only seen a few movies, but many episodes (for all but enterprise, for which I haven't seen any), and in general, it is not exactly "high quality viewing"...but I like it anyway

I never realized how much of Star Trek I actively HATED until just recently. There are just so many episodes that I've seen once or twice years ago that you could not PAY me to see again.dandandaman wrote:I've only seen a few movies, but many episodes (for all but enterprise, for which I haven't seen any), and in general, it is not exactly "high quality viewing"...but I like it anyway
But then, there are the episodes every so often that are absolutely wonderful and that remind me exactly what I love about Star Trek.

I not a big star trek fan any more, hell I enjoy the original series the best. But as for the movies I would rate them as follows.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek VIII: First Contact
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
Star Trek VII: Generations
Star Trek X: Nemesis
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Star Trek IX: Insurrection
Personally, I think for a movie, then could have combined Generations, Nemesis, Insurrection all into a single plot. Then it might have made a decent move.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said.
But I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
