Need A few rare planets,bases or maybe a roving capship to do blackmarket mods to your ships ie. mounting a heavy capship weapon or torpedeo on a llama..... of course balancing the mod with consciquences such as overloading your systems and blinding your for time or spinning your ship out of control.......

there are some new upgrades available in SVN called Shady Mechanic that are fun no weapon tweaks yet but engine, sheild, and reactor so far.

ahhh yes Very nice topic, and a Very valid inclusion as well, .... (as i see it) even in Just todays society with out current tech limitations you Can have seemingly impossible mods made to vehicles and have them work (ever seen Monster Garage, and the Ford Mustang Lawn Mower?) so i guess it wouldnt be too far of a stretch to say that in the time period that VS takes place in with all of its Tech Advancements having some ingenious mad-scientist-redneck-space-biker, that could mod your ship with just about Anything (for a Heafty price of course) doesnt seem too far fetched (i Am one of those i guess, in that i build Nostalgia-Rods in my spare time IRL) and have done some Crazy S**t (like putting a 400hp 351 V8 into a nissan 280Z) so "outlandish" mods to ships in the game "Should" be possible, for a price, and With slightly-unexpected result like your flying along in your llama at whatever speed and you Fire the capship turret you had installed and all of a suddon your going backwards or something. on that note id say that having the ship "unballanced" would / should be part of the deal, like having your Entire reactor capacity Drained from 1 shot, so that the player could (if they so chose) get the mods, but then know the consequences of that "outlandish" mod to their ship
anyway, enough of that, ive got pirates, and aera to hunt

Was wondering if this idea still is a valid suggestion?

maybe the "place" should located in the Forsaken and Uln area

Or a pirate base variant with a low frequency of appearance and only in certain sectors.And the pirate bases already rare so these would be more so :shock: but we should plant some rumours so the player can eventually find one :wink:

Yes, rumours directing players to these places would be important.

Could someone describe in more detail how the "Shady Mechanic" works? Earlier in this post it is called an "upgrade", which I find to be a rather confusing notion.

Shady Mechanic is the Upgrade Category and it is not available everywhere they are usually not major stations or planets and you buy them from the upgrade screen some allow more than one instance for greater effect :D
