View Map in Places Where Missions are Offered

Post by A Laggy Grunt »

This would make "Should I do it?" a much easier question to answer about a mission without knowing every jump you'll have to make.

End result: a much more playable game.

There were talks about unifying nav screen with baseinterface. So far, managed only to break the nav screen. ;)
Well, of course auto-hint as a list of jumps it already knows (IIRC the number of jumps between the contracting and target systems affects the reward) would be better.

No idea how doable it is, but how about overlaying the top end of a tablet display in the lower part of the screen, showing at least the list of jumps, eventually colour coded for factions?

Why bother? There's already "Jump to X enroute to Y"/ "Jump to final system: Y" given as an objective. We only need to show all "enroute" objectives and update when the first is updated.

Oops sorry, I wasn't clear; I mean showing it as an overlay to the bar scene, as soon as the fixer proposes the mission; if it's not in the current system, the list might appear to help the player decide if it's worth the time or not.

For fixers, may use a map on "palm computer".
There were talks about divorcing universal functions like save/load/quit from base interface screens and making it available from cockpit and bases alike (on ESC). Integrating this with nav screen only makes sense.
Why show map? If PC deals with fixers, may well look up manually - provided it's within two button clicks when in the bar.

To stack them. Three missions on the same route > three missions in completely opposite directions.

If they're on the same route, "enroute" waypoints will be identical. :)
The rest could be done via generic map screen. It already supports displaying "from here to there" paths, or at least supported until got broken.
