New Forum request [SOLVED]

Post by chuck_starchaser »

There's user help, there's contributors help, there's compiling problems...
But there's no Modder's Help Forum to be found...
Highly needed. ;-)
Unless that was the idea behind General Modding; but general modding is a bit of a potpourri of budding mod announcements and whatnot.

I do believe that was the intention chuck but as with battle plans it did not survive contact with the enemy

Enjoy the Choice :)

Is that not what General Modding should be for?

Okay, okay, I get the message. It's funny; it just never occurred to me General Modding was for modding help; I always thought of it as a showcase and news forum for budding mods. First time the idea occurred to me was after I wrote the original post, so I edited to add to it.

Got another idea:
Perhaps under the Mods category, besides General Modding, there could be an Engine Feature Requests forum, so that such requests don't end mixed up here with requests regarding Vegastrike-the-Game; --or worse... confused with game requests...

Add to that, Engine Bug Reports, as a forum separate from (game-) Bug Triage, and changing the name of General Modding...

So, under the Mods for Vegastrike category, first three forums could be
  • General Modding Help (just renamed from "General Modding")
  • Engine Bug Reports (for modders only)
  • Engine Feature Requests (for modders only)
Am I dreaming in 64-bit color?

I think only the General Modding description needs changing to: "Anyone making or planning their own mod should post help requests, screen shots and news here."

Also I think Your two forums for modding bugs/feature reqs can be just one Modding Engine Room.

So, revised:

General Modding
Anyone making or planning their own mod or mod tools should post help requests, screen shots and news here.

Modding Engine Room
For collaboration on developing the mod capabilities of VS; request new features, report bugs, or suggest improvements

Posting a question in General Modding doesn't seem to work.
http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/forum ... hp?t=10782

I'd therefore like to re-submit the request for the forum changes, as last suggested by CharlieG, but for one slight modification:

General Modding Help, etc.
Anyone making or planning their own mod or mod tools should post help requests, --or screen shots and news-- here.

Modding Engine Room
For collaboration on developing the mod capabilities of VS; request new features, report bugs, or suggest improvements

I didn't add Help into the general modding name.

I always forget the part about adding permissions.

I gave "Forum Staff" and "General Modding" access to that group.

The fact remains, though; I don't have permissions for moving threads between forums. I think only a moderator of this forum, or an admin, can do so.

I think the thread Planet lighting also belongs in the Engine Room forum, even though it was written with vegastrike the game in mind; the root of the problem is probably magic numbers and lack of consistency with physics and optics in the lightinng formulas.
