Multiplayer testing here, too!

Post by spiritplumber »

Please visit http://spiritplumber.tzo.com/cgi-bin/ for the new piArmada net server. We will add WC1 ships as soon as practical.

This is still an early beta, but basic combat works (notably, the Shoklar doesn't cloak yet).

This is a scaled down version of what could be the real Vegastrike server, also, we're testing an autoupdate feature.

Hmm, sounds interesting, im gonna test this out not, or at least download it now.

One quick question, do you have to have the original pirmada files or something?

Well, I just tested it, couldn't last night as the computer crashed and then the internet did not want to connect, so now it is back up ( gee, is it really that hard to tell that its back up) I just tested it on guest (6) and worked fine i belive so now i will register anaccount and i will let you know how that goes.

EDIT:

Ok after some more testing and registering an account, the game will now not work, it cannot get past the loading screen and i have to terminate the program with task manager, i even tried it with the guest accounts agine and not even they would work, so i dont know what else to say other then that, and good luck getting it to run porperly

I think you might need an update

run the armada.bat and see if an update comes through---
then run download the new vegastrike.config after registering..

another user reported a similar problem--it could be something funky with spirit's registration script? well that will all change as soon as spirit updates the accountserver to be in python

armada.bat should tell you if you have an update necessary
try downloading it all over (i.e. unzip the vanilla zip file)
and *don't* donwload the new config
instead just edit the config file and replace your nickname, callsign, username and password with the appropriate values (the first three should all be the same :-) )
that should make sure you get on---as for why it doesn't work--I have no idea since I'm not hosting it--- but those are the directions that worked for me

You may need to get the new client ( http://www.spiritplumber.com/WCU/wcvstest.zip ) and then run armada.bat (armada is now a misnomer since we're using WC1-era ships).

Sorry about the mess!
