RPM's on Mandrake 9.1

Trying to build your own version of Vega Strike and having problems? Unix users, paste your config.log here (stderr output alone is not helpful).

I just downloaded
OpenAL-0.0.6-CVS311202.i586.rpm
vegastrike-data-0.3-1.noarch.rpm
vegastrike-0.3.1-2.i386.rpm.
(nine hours on that last one) then used the RPM installler
and it seemed to work ok but when I try to run it I get a locked screen.
I started the vslauncher and there was no operating system option for Linux.
What's up.?????
Is there a spicific order that I should do the RPM's?

I'm also interested in this problem.
Some days ago I installed VS from cvs-sources (works fine) and made a Mandrake 9.1 RPM from it (with 'checkinstall').
After reinstalling the RPM I've got a locked screen too. No idea, what happens here...
I started the vslauncher and there was no operating system option for Linux.
Just ignore, was also the case with my running installation from sources.
It looks strange, though, but is not the reason for your locked screen.

run
vssetup

then select windowed mode

then you can get more interesting info

prolly a driver problem

Problems with 9.1 RPM

I installed the rpm's and ran vsssetup, then vslauncher. A window opens up, then immidiately closes and the shell reports the following...

Sorry for the long post, but I'm not a programmer or all that smart with linux internals so this output doesn't actually tell me much. 98 error, ok, what host? I'm assuming the installation script is wrong if it can't find stuff it was supposed to have installed?

This I do remember from my amiga days. Did the program try to call a function that isnt available within this library?

Any help appreciated as using dial-up I simply don't have enough time left to re-download a 94mb file again.

try doing:

export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libz.*

figure out what the * expands to.... like libz.so.2 or something
then run vega
