Compiled but still wont run

Hello, I am new to the forum.

I have spent several days now attempting to get a working version of the SVN branch to work.

My machine is an HP DX2310 with 2g memory and running a dual boot.

I can get the stable 0.5.0 to run fine on Vista, but with SVN it crashes shortly after launch, sometime longer othertime immediately. After reading through the forums for days I have tried several things. I even compiled with VC8 solution and in the end same error where it crashes shortly after takeoff.

So now I am attempting to compile on openSUSE 11.1. I got the compile okay without errors I could see. vssetup works okay but vegastrike fails with the following...

I have changed the shader options in setup many times to each setting and details and and and, but not sure what I'm looking for, the message appears to point to shader is the problem. The log bellow is with setings Nicest Shader, Very High Detail, 1280x1024, All Linux Sound, 1Gb Ram + 1 Gb Swap, 32bit Color Fullscreen, and Mouse Glide.

Let me know if you need additional information about my system or logs from the compile. I really want to play the SVN version as it looks very cool.

According to the logs, you don't seem to have a graphics driver installed and you are using the Mesa library: "shader/slang/slang_emit.c" is sadly not our code.

What graphics card do you have in that system? If you aren't sure, do a "lspci" and look for VGA Graphics Controller.

If you don't want to mess around with upgrading your drivers then you will have to just turn off shaders.
You can also try the "Lite" shader--sometimes that is easier for your graphics card to handle.

Did you try with the Lite shader, or by turning shaders off altogether?

I'm not sure you're going to be able to use shaders with that Intel card, unless you can find good Linux drivers for it.

Did try running with lite and no shader as well as with low detail but they all gave the same results.

I will look into the linux drivers.

On the other hand, whats up with the Vista option? I've both downloaded the SVN and ran as is, as well as VC8 compiled the source, but both are crashing shortly after undocking. Any ideas no the Vista option (same machine, dual boot).

BTW, I downloaded the SVN on an old XP laptop (750mb RAM) and it runs no problem, just more choppy and slow so it must be something with Vista?

well you might want to look at vistas settings as it requires much more ram than xp does to run so it could be that

And turning off the Areo interface or what ever they call it seems to be a factor as well.

Could you post your stdout and stderr outputs from the terminal they may indeed be similar but there may be a few differences that we can maybe work around.
