I'm using Kubuntu Jaunty Jackalope Alpha 2,my Graphics card is an Nvidia Geforce 6,800 GT.I'm currently using the latest nouveau drivers with the latest Gallium3D.
I hve posted my config.log.txt with this post as well.

That looks like the nouveau driver is barfing at the demands placed on it have you tried the restricted nvidia driver

Code: Select all

Vertex Program Error: Failed to compile default
OpenGL::EXTColorTable unsupported Illegal instruction (core dumped)

and turn of shader support the first error.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Hi Loki1950,
Thanks for the advice.I have used the restricted binary Nvidia driver to play Vegastrike many times, and had no real problems.
I thought I'd try out the nouveau drivers with the extra Gallium3D support for 3d acceleration.I know they're getting there in getting support for all the cards that Nvidia makes ;)

The other reason I'm using the nouveau drivers is that Jaunty Jackalope are using the development version of Xorg(1.6)as far as I know. But the thing is that Nvidia haven't updated the ABI version for their driver yet(I know about the --ignore-abi=true workaround).

I'll see what other help I can get,and just keep compiling the xf86-video-nouveau and gallium-0.2 source code and see if there are going to be any improvements soon.
