Unable to read from setup.config

Trying to build your own version of Vega Strike and having problems? Unix users, paste your config.log here (stderr output alone is not helpful).

Unable to read from setup.config

Post by diederick76 »

Hi,

I compiled and installed the vegastrike 0.5.0 release (./configure; make; make vssetup; make install) on Ubuntu 8.04 (Heron), since the binary release didn't run. However, when I run vssetup, I get

Code: Select all

Unable to read from setup.config
When I run vegastrike, I get

Code: Select all

Vega Strike
See http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html for license details.

GOT SUBDIR ARG =
Found MODDIR = /mods
USING HOMEDIR : /home/diederick/.vegastrike As the home directory
CONFIGFILE - No config found in home : /home/diederick/.vegastrike/vegastrike.config
CONFIGFILE - No config found in data dir : /vegastrike.config
CONFIG FILE NOT FOUND !!!
The compilation and installation did not reveal any errors/problems.

Also, do I need to download the datafiles separately? I can't seem to find them. The wiki's compiling howto only describes compiling the svn version, not the release.

Thanks for any help.

Yes if what you downloaded is the source tarball you should have downloaded
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/vegast ... irror=osdn

which is the complete package the source code for the binaries and the data files there is also a RAR archive.

Enjoy the Choice :)

You can download the linux tarball Loki pointed you to, and then use your compiled version with it.
