Red i see them as orange but the mouse over highlighting does mask that colour a bit so i just drag the scroll bar to avoid the highlighting.

Re: Planet background
very nice!!
if you want a critics i will give you (but is more about disposal/organization): Rlaan is suposed to be "Quad symetrical"
i propose you a simply thing:
inside a square surface (don't need to modeliz a square)
put the 4"arms/crane" in each corner(corner of the square)
4 "hangars" on each segment (segment of the square)
and 8 ship rack = 2 on each side of "hangar" and all this thing around a central round place like that is Quadratic-symetric
Or for be simple : just cancel the 2 middle Crane and keep 4 crane (i like the non regular folding crane)
But again the model is very very nice i like the ant-hook (but loki said true it's look like little bit "bilateral" and 6 is not a good Rlaan number=4,8,16
6 is aera .......3,6,9...
2 is human....2,4,6,8
i think is a good rules to keep in your mind for be right with each "Race style"

Re: Planet background
hello
@dunkelheit
When i brings the disposal critics i means "no need to remesh your model" is already very good like that
my "critics" (i prefer advise) was more for respect the rlaan body construction(better for a game) imagine you reverse a rlaan on his back: you have the disposal of your shipyard!!
the mesh and texture is perfect i haven't any critics on this it'was just about "the feeling" of rlaan =dark/cryptic, organic, quad and over radial symetrized around a central point .

How about this?
http://news.povray.org/povray.binaries. ... ray.org%3E
Star Control 2 had a lot of humorous factions. I thought this image might be used for something similar.

Re: Planet background
well i was trying with the fog, but the better is to use a media in the scene, so i got this picture, i really like it more than the stormy version, so tell me if someone think the same or not, a thing to take into account is that this picture doesnt have the radiosity settings, just an ambient alight, so the indirect lightning will look better in the final

Fendorin: Is there too much blue?
The atmosphere in his picture looks yellow and dusty and almost like venus might! I like the look.

There's simply no decision to be making here, both this and the stormy depictions are awesome, and both represent different kinds of worlds; use them both I'd say.

Re: Planet background
Personally, I don't like Terragen so much. I was impressed in the late 90s when I first saw images made with it.
...but now the images always look like they're from the late 90s (i.e. they looked "next-gen" at the time, but now look dated in a bad way). I prefer "smoother" heightfields minus all the unnecessary wrinkles, even if they end up looking more "cartoony" and less "realistic".

Re: Planet background
BTW, here's an image that would make a cool "hive" scene:

Do any of the VS factions lay spherical eggs?

Love your artwork, Fendorin! For some reason I love the ones in the first page. I saw they were posted two years ago, so I assume they are already implemented?

Wow. Those look great!
Turbo
There are two speeds in combat: stopped, and as fast as you can go. Unless you run into something, going fast keeps you alive more often than stopping.

Fendorin, I think you are ready to start experimenting with blender's raytracer. Pre-rendered city scenes like this would make excellent candidates for some raytraced reflections (and transparency).

Try applying that same effect to the flying cars too; auto paint usually mirrors its surroundings. And use raytracing on glass (like windows) and liquids (like water) too, as well as raytraced transparency for glass and liquid (turn the "Ray Transp" option on).
