Looks very unique, from the little I can see. I maxed out the brightness on my monitor and still took me about 5 minutes to figure out you were showing more than one ship together. I think a bit more light in the 3D renders, and 3 orthogonal views would help make out what's it like. The stuff in the second-last pic, for example; I can't figure out what part of the ship it is.

EDIT:
Hahaha: Starting to understand... Pirate hats!

 i really should start tweaking my monitor settings. sorry. ;) my home monitor is already rather bright. so my renders tend to get darker

 not quite... peacocks was the idea. lol

but yeah, maybe for the rest of the ingatwa fleet. but for the duke, this is the overview. I still have to work on the texture some more so I didnt provide orthos.

The texture has some type of classic style attached to it.

I think its regal, in a, Frank Herbert's 'Dune' meets pirate hats sort of way.

I like it
Do you hear, that whisper, calling unto you
O'childe of the shore
As have your brethern before you
beckoning, to sail to those distant lands
Come
embrace me, your mistress
Upon the coldest sea

I like specially the original design of the ship, never seen anything like this. The gold decals gives a "royal" feel , lol. The texture is great, like what you have us used to.
If this is a missile boat, is there any place were you can see missile launchers or something?
Very nice work overall. :D

Via email, jackS was so friendly as to offer his sparse time to comment on the here presented concept. I want to share this authoritative guidance with the artist(s) that would like to take the challenge of further improving the current concept. Authoritative in this context means according to the UTCS (Upon the Coldest Sea) cannon and aligned with manufacturing styles of the faction by which the vessel in question was manufactured.
... wish we had that model
Which obviously is a GO for the integration of the model.

@Oblivion,
Could you please post a link to model + textures or mail the files to me.

Damn, I was really looking forward to seeing the Uln have their own unique style and something about this model fits them perfectly. I think the renders you provided above should now go immediately onto the concept art page.

Anyways, it is good to see you've learnt to control your Nexuiz addiction and come back to good old Vega Strike. :D

"Flying Steel"

Only in game though, I don't post on the forums yet and probably won't until/unless I start working on making them some better character skins, the only ugly part of the game at this stage.

If possible, I would also like to try and get them to implement a 'character stats' Arena Mutator, so when you play a game in that mode you choose different character classes to take into battle each respawn with a wide variety of different physics, weapons, armor and health characteristics so that they fit different roles or simply different players' styles or momentary whims. Picking different characters then would not just be a matter of aesthetic preference, it would have the same gameplay depth as jump in to different vehicles in modern shooters only without that extra complexity and reliance on outdoor maps to take advantage of the feature. Would be especially fun for TDM, CTF and the new Onslaught.

If only I knew code. . .

Actually now that you bring it up, Alien Arena uses a character class system like I was describing (in addition to vehicles). It's just that its physics feel too 'choppy' to me somehow and its graphics are seizure inducing.

I don't remember you Deus, LOL. Holler when you play okay? I'm one of the moderators there.

And yeah, I planned to make new player models too, but meh, not enough documentation. Everything's garbled and I'm too busy to root around for it.

Well I only play sporadically in a week, mostly on tuesday sometime around 1:00 to 3:00 gmt.

Someone did a walkthrough on the forum, but it was for .smd and .md3 and I don't yet know of any good exporters for blender that handle one of those formats well, so I didn't feel like jumping into the task yet either.
