Proposed Model for I Don't Know

Post by Oblivion »

:P

In case you wodner about the AISN emblazoned, I actually made this model in an attempt to try to get the AFF shipstyle.

Anyway. Let me know if it can be plugged anywhere in VS. I can change the texture and replace/delete the more obviously AFF-inspired structures too.

The working title was Rakshasa. Hehe. Me and Indian Mythology..

impressed... very much.

this marvellous piece of work looks as it has atmo-flying capabilities and a lot of manouvrability in atmosphere. maybe also in space.

it could be a small hi-tech lightweight 1-crew figter for planetary and capship assault (obviously in squads of hundreds) but not for bombing. (think at the vipers in battlestar galactica).

it could also be a fast police interceptor for patrolling and scouting missions or a secret military reconaissance vessel for look-there-and-come-back-but-do-not-engage missions.

only suggestions of course.

Wow, this is a really awesome model,indeed..... if I can give a suggestion
the only thing that doesn't convinces me to the max is the bump for the
hulls,imho should be deeper/more black....

However a grat model for a pirate / bounty hunters ship!

I love this ship as is. To change it any just because it was inspired by something else would be sad. Easily my favorite ship if it gets in VS.

Thanks all. It needs to be changed because VS textures are different.

The hull lines are still WIP. I'm trying to get the illusion of armored panels over internals atm. I'm trying to thin most of the lines and leave the main lines thicker to correctly imply division. well.. wish me luck.

Be warned the VS version of this will look radically different and simplier.

But it's really necessary to avoid nastier things ... like "Whoa?! Didn't I see this ship in.."

This is an unmanned drone (or will be when I finish it.. ) for AFF, so the cockpit area, especially needs to be renovated to accomodate VS pilots.

Workinonit..

.....Didn't it say in VS lore that glass housed cockpits are supposed to be rare?

:P guess, modelers don't listen..

But it's probably not glass, some kind of transparent plasteel probably. Or more likely some darkened region where the sensors are housed.

Don't worry, it will not look anything remotely like big breakable glass panes. Think hum vee windows 8)

Wasn't the exact wording for hud repair "Given that any craft of decent size has no physical viewport for its pilot, and that no pilot could fly without the nav cues overlayed by the HUD, the ability to do in-flight repair of damaged HUD systems is nearly vital."?

Just because there's no physical viewport for the pilot doesn't mean that there's no viewport alcove(s) for sensors.. which may or may not be covered by a transparent(to the sensor) panel.

Dude, this ship rocks.
It kind of reminds me of shadow ships (B5) - mostly if it stays that dark :D

@Tseng... :) exactly as mortaneous said. Sticking them out at odd places would be liable to get them scraped off. So get a nice transparent area on the front for the cameras.

And hehe. Welcome to Vega Strike. Where the words don't often match the world.

@klauss:
Thanks. It does look better darker, right?hmmm.. I'll remember that. I've finished the AFF version of it (tested it ingame in VS too for the AFF Mod). And I'm still waiting fo the instruction as to what faction and ship class this will belong to in VS before I start modifying it. I'll make sure it stays dark, even if I have to burn it. lol :D

anywho.. here's what it looks like in AFF:

Very nice splash entry into the AFF universe. The nose probably could be a lot lower poly, but it's a bit too late at this point.

 Nobody seems interested in it... I agree with the nose. I was... well.. a bit confident about its low-polyishness so I aimed for higher polies in the details.

What?
Lack of official placement does not by any means imply lack of interest. Remember Strangelet's.

Anyway... if it were up to me, I'd say highborn.
looks classy.

I would say this great ship deserves to be a new highborn & mechanist secret ship, made especially to counter those agile aera fighters.

A high-tech functional mechanist design with a noble highborn shape.
I can imagine the face of the highborn designers when they saw the first blueprints of the ship the mechanist show them... Aaaaaaayyeeek! no way we are going to fly in those aberrant looking things!
So thats it, hi-tech plus elegance.

klauss, I think oblivion is refering to the lack of official aff responce on the ship. I dunno...I kinda liked it, but seeing as we have so many drone concepts allready...

I suppose it's up to you with what you want to do with it. Don't just have it go to waste tho.

 hehe. Yeah. I'll just make something VS for Rakshasa.

I'm just discovering the vast gap between modeling disciplines in AFF and VS. lol. So Daem.. medea's getting her turn. AND really. Enki was the last.

Rakshasa is open to anybody who likes it, but I'll give her a VS rebirth. Klauss and light_gemini, I doubt the highborn would even want to counter aera forces. lol. On the other hand... nobles do think war is fashionable. So yeah, that's an idea. But JackS' has promised assignment. I'll see what could be done.

Sorry for the absence of the liner as promised... it went away somewhere... But watch out for Uln ships next.

Beautiful, and it looks like a light atmospheric fighter to me.

In space the wings and fins might be less useful, and aerodynamics are irrelevant. So I'd expect to meet these ship NOT in space but when flying in atmosphere.
Maybe as local security for not-quite-so-rich planets who cannot afford a deep space navy.

Okay, this'll not be used at all. i think for VS. However, JackS has given me descriptions of the Vendetta, so I'm building Vendetta from scratch after i finsih the Duke (will redo that too, i cant get the scales to look right).

and these ships are currently bomber drones. And since all (or almost all) AFF ships can enter atmospheres, it fits, i think. :)
