not my concept just my work. Apparently it's anew enemy for the federeation called the archien. The fin has the main warp field nacelle in it will also be a pylon for alot of weapons. This race is a little behind the federation in terms of computing power but has some awesome weapons apparently (I'm waiting for the specs from the tech guys).

It''l be featuring in the next season of Hidden Frontier which should go out in OCtober which gives me a bit of time to properly finish it of to the specs they finally decide on.

Cheers for the input.

Storylines are great- acting ain't. If they had some proper funding then they could do wonders with it!

That's normal. Do you know StarWreck? They have great effects (better than many TV productions) but their acting sucks... although everybody seems to like Fuckov...

If you like things blowing up then look at spacebattles.com It's mad! They have Star Wars vs Star Trek vs Babylon Five vs Space Above and Beyond etc

I like it!!!

StarWreck's acting isn't bad at all... just not "stellar" - we're too used to big productions to appreciate good amateur films, IMHO.

But, ya... I just downloaded an episode from ST:HF and it's a nice storyline, with markedly poor acting. But it's ok - one does not watch a fanfilm and expect pro-quality. In fact, StarWreck amazed me by its high quality at the time.

Anyway... you seem to be forgetting that they'll be using the model for offline rendering. That means: go crazy with the polycount.

Klauss...I will be mate, I will be. Apparently this race is obssessed by stone- they just about worship it . In that light, I'm changing the armour on the hull so it's looks rock. The idea is that they can harvest asteroids to replace the armour. What I like about her is that the tech guys at HF want it to use older technology- no particle weapons, photon torpedoes etc. Instead she'll be carrying rail guns and fusion(nuclear) torpedoes.

Her armament is almost identical to Atantia which makes life a great deal easier.

Anyone got any suggestions for surface features?

They've just decided that the fin is going to be an aymospheric capable landing vessel so I'll have to start looking at really heavily detailing that up.

Lets have some ideas on surface features...my creative bits are almost at an end.

Not bad! You could have done a lot worse with the stone textures, they actually seems to fit here pretty well.

This is for Star Trek? Not VS? Nice! I really like the close-ups of the textures, but I didn't like the texture of the big X on the front(?) of the ship. But if that's how it looked like. .. Good job. :D

cheers...what big x?

Not really an X. More like a Y with awide base. hehe. The yellow extruded thing, you know. It's obviously not a thruster, as it is extruded. so whadizit? :?:

That's the main impulse assembly. I have quite a bit of work to do on that to make it look a bit more realistic. Star Trek has no benchmarks to go by so I'm a bit stuck. I don't like the texture either and I'm still trying to make one that looks the business.

Stone as armour? Inventive (Or retro. I mean, castles used this in medieval times). On the other side, harvesting asteroids should provide them with enough metal to use as armour...well, probably something religious behind that.

Sorry for double posting, but my browser gave me an error the first time so I posted again

The stone thing is something religious...apparently this lot just about worship stone! It is practical because asteroids can be harvested to replace the armour. The projectiles she fires are also made of rock- high iron ore content, magnetised and then fired from 18 rail gun turrets.

Watch the boxy greebles.

Try beveling, like this:

Code: Select all

___
   \
   /
__/
Also, the impulse assembly is like a current-times ion drive, only orders of magnitude more efficient/powerful/massive (all three ;) ).
In looks, they look like ion drives: an exhaust with a steady glow. Usually red glow.
Sublight engines (impulse) usually looks like a red patch (biggish) pointing backwards that lights when at full impulse, but not always red (aparently)

Lets see... screenshots...
NX class
Galaxy class
Constitution class

Klauss...the effect I know it's the trying to add extra detail that I'm stuck on. All Trek vessel just have a little square with the glow. I want to add more detail to it- pipes connecting structures etc.

Cool, Stone Age is back!
Quite clever to use Magnetite or other iron ores as Ammo for a rail gun.
I wonder if they have some big scaled slingshots on their ships in case of energy loss *g*

The purple things you can see on the hull aren't nacelles, they're energy collectors. They draw energy in from somewhere (can't remember the technical stuff they sent), so in theory, they'll never lose power.
