Sorry I've been away guys, been quite seriously ill but things are on the mend. Now on the MKIV of Atlantia...one day she'll get finished!!! Made some minor changes to the superstructure and the wings/pylons. The wings are now bulbous near the hull to accomadate her auxilliary engine rooms and armouries. Used tyhe new version of AC3D to do it and it's pretty damn good- beats the crap out of wings at any rate!

Please bear with me on the rubbish textures for now, need to sort out some decent ones.

If you're going to have all that greebling you may as well expend some more polys on the main shape. Looks nice.

There is alot more detail going into the main hull including 75 gun turrents, lateral intrusions FWD of the wings to house science and research areas, 32 torpedo launchers in the wings/pylons and 50 launchers along her port and STBD sides. Not including the attached 'pipework' running across the hull for the energy based weapons and the 4 main cooling ports situated aft of the superstructure and 24 launch tubes housed aft under the wings above the hanger. I'll also be designing the habitats she carries at some point, these are housed on the pylons and are deployed in orbit creating colony bases.

She is just over 3 miles long (4503m) in case you were wondering.

She an EV (Explorer Vessel) not a warship..she does, however, carry enough weapons to handle any 'situation'.

Quite a bit of work to do on her externals and then I need to start laying out internals for things like the bridge, shuttle hangers, fighter hangers, engine room etc etc

This design was done this afternoon.

I advocate downloading strangelet's automatic greebalizer. It rocks! :D

Only works on certain software. I find it works best on cityscapes and habitats. The greebling I have in mind ac tually has a use (goes against the concept of greebling) and thus I must do it by hand

Perhaps useful greebling could be called a different term - chuckling (jokingly).

Nice! It looks... massive.

And yes, hopefully you will get some nicer textures. The main hull could use some smoothing near the back.

Usefulgreeble - (YOOS-fool-Gri-b'ls) 1.n. in Astronautics; Something very difficult to make, especially in large starships. 2.n The antonym of "Greeble". pl.Usefulgreebles, v.cont.Usefulgreebling.
