Proposed Model For a Mobile Battery Platform
Proposed faction owner: Andolian
Also proposed texture/color styles of Andolian ships - Burnt orange, yellow, etc. I will submit the maps I used.
Anyway, 3dsmax seems to ahve a function to automatically render the specular map, diffuse, etc. however, bumpmaps, and glowmaps are not included. And I don't know how to amke those.
I still don't understand the wiki instructions on making ship models. It's too fragmented and arcane for a beginner like moi.
This model has a low face count (I made sue of that. I seem to have developed in the past few days, a facecountophobia. lol) so, LODs probably won't be needed, or if it will be, just downsizing the textures would probably suffice (Probably as in - "I don't have any clue", lol).
The Mobile Platform has 10 turret mounts. And by turret, I mean the large and small versions. This model is not supposed to be large (but as yet, I don't know how to ensure that my models are in the correct size, as I can't reconvert the current BXFM models.), as comparison, it would be about as large as four pacifiers placed end-to-end. It's mobile, in the sense that it can move very slowly to the defined defense perimeter of a station. It cannot however use SPEC, and therefore must be transported in large capships (i.e. it can be bought, if you have a large enough capship, a large enough amount of credits, and on chummy terms with the Andolian Protectorate).
And by the way, I also don't know how to define the position of the gun mounts. Anyway, it's pretty obvious looking at the model itself. two each on the circles on each of the four platforms (the wings, top-bottom, whichever way that is , a total of ; and two larger turrets on the cylindrical base sprouting from the top and bottom of the main hull itself.
So help please.... that is if this model is acceptable, VS canon-wise.

Not sure on the quality part. But yeah I'm a prolific artist. Still, I wish qauntity could mean quality. But since I'm outputting about 1 model a day, I think there could be some that just needs a little tweaking. I'm still learning. VS has become a reason for me to learn modelling, and help in an open-source project besides. And I'm thankful for that.Not since the almighty stranj has such regular quality output been in the forums.

As I was saying. I'm not particularly good. Just imaginative.
And it's chunky because, I took pains to make it low-poly. As stations would probably have a lot of these in close proximity. And they're small. See window sizes. Turrets with higher polies would make it look less boxy. But I didn't know how to attach them so...
Anyway, I'll probably be making more turret platforms and whatnot as i will be testing my mesher skills. So I'll try to make em with more polygons.

thanks, that would help a lot.I'm gonna document turret implementation in a bit, probably when I'm done with these strangelet turrets.

Is there still interest to use this platform in VS universe, given that the model and textures will be improved?
If so, what would be the best placement in terms of in-system location. Near stations, near planets, near jump points?

do we need improve the mesh like a large radar ont the 2 round top point??
and maybe change the colors yellow is definitivelly not Andolians?
