Post by GAlex »

found some spare time in easter days; I was playing with a cube and extruded it a bit. and then ... it almost shape by itself:, my new space sheep.

and the model: http://www.filelodge.com/files/room17/4 ... cube.blend

this is a first draft, and deserves some cleanups, then it will be time to texture. apropos: can anyone tell me where to find a good hull texture?

comments/suggestions wellcomed.

PS: @zeog: my latter ship has been renamed "the blowfish" , do you think this one could fit in any of the VS fiction vessels?

Nice shape! Looks like a small fighter; if you want it to look larger, adding some smaller details would do good.

Acctually, it looks a bit too huge for a fighter. I was thinking Plowshare-sized.
Nicely shaped, but lacks details.

yes, it resembles a gawain in some details, but has a boxy structure (it's always an extruded cube  ) like a plowshare. so I think it could be a mid-size between the two: a fighter heavier than a gawain but less than a hulk like the plowshare. in fact it should be MUCH less, maybe a little smaller than a pacifier. given the overall gun shape (elongated but not wide x-speaking) it shouldn't have so much cargo space, and while the back area should be thought as the place where reactors and engines are put, the front should be the weapon area.

as for details... i think quite all the details needed can be added texture-side.
as an example, have a look at the plowshare model.

<thinking> a thing I should definitively do as I find time is rad-baking

8) With the right textures it would look great. But I think it looks more like a large freighter like the Plowshare. It looks too bulky to be as maneauverable as the smaller heavy fighters, though streamlining is not actually a concern in space. :D
