a closed surface cannot be mapped? where is this error printed? what is it

or are you saying that you have a closed surface and wnat to texture map it

just make your texture wrappable :-)
or you could make it go twice

go from texture coordinate 0 to texture coordinate 2 for instance

Ok what you gotta do is when UV mapping, you gotta select the colors for the surface.

When you selected the faces, right click and select either AuvChart(1-9).

Marking edges for cut is good for splitting whole mapped surfaces(inorder to make a cube.

I forgot where the AUV tutorial was.

The Texturing-Howto is located here.

Especially the Tips on the bottom of the page are very helpful (i hope ;-))

ok I've got passed that problem (arg that was annoying)
new problem and you're all going to laugh at me.... STOP LAUGHING AT ME!

the turrets on my ship are bigger then the ship itself and therefor in the game, all you can see are the turrets... How big should the ships be for everything to apear "right".

I am sureley not laughing a you (made the same mistakes in the beginning) ;-) :D

When exporting the Ship select the grey square on the right side of "Vegastrike xmesh format" and enter an export scale between 5-15 (depends on your modell size in wings; if i remember correctly for a 8 unit long fighter a factor of 8-10 is a quite good value).

If you already exported the file just edit the beginning of the xunit file to look like this:

Code: Select all

<unit scale="10">
This is described more detailed in the Wings Howto and in the unit Howto.

ok a few things,
1. I tried editing the unit scale, but this just caused the model to get bigger and all the turrets to be clumped together in one spot (there are 4 turrets)
2. I went back into wings3d and made the model larger (about 4 times larger) and repositioned the turrets, but now only one of the turrets apears.
3. How do I take screenshot in the game, i've tried PrtScn but that doesn't seem to do anything.
This isn't the end of the universe, I've been to the end of the universe and trust me, this isn't it!

to 1 and 2: i have no idea what's the reason for this
to 3:
In the FAQ:Q8 there are howto-make-screenshot descriptions for every operation system.
