The pot was from cannabis.com, the opium is from heroin.org, the vaccines from www.straightfromthedoc.com. All are editted by me.

Do you need express permission? or whats the policy on this?

That's what he's asking.

What did they say in those places?
Can you use them without modification?
Can you re-license them or do you have to follow a specific license?
Can you redistribute them in modified form? (for you did)

Classic questions answered in a license - or a FAQ.

The problem with just grabbing images off the web is that it pushes the limits of "fair use" law, especially because we redistribute (and even sell) vegastrike without much of a clear indication of the source of our material.

Basically, I would reccomend staying away from copyrighted material that has no free license attatched. Public domain images are best- after that, GPL/GFDL and loose Creative Commons pictures should be okay. (I'm thinking any license that would be GPL compatible, so it' can't be non-commercial or no-derivatives only.)

I'm not 100% sure of the official policy on this- but all of the cargo images that I contributed way back when were PD or GFDL. For all I know, there could be "vanilla" copyrighted material in the current dataset- but if there is, we should probably be working to remove it instead of adding more.
