converting xmesh back to obj/3ds/... ?

Post by pontiac »

Is there any way (a perl-script or something)
to convert existing xmesh-files back to obj?

The texturizer can do this. However, the UV mapping got all messed up when I did it, and I couldn't figure out how to fully restore it.

You just have to hit the right key when you're in the texturizer. It's either 'x' or 's'. i think.

I finally had some time to try this with the texturizer.
But when i press 'x' it only saves the normal xmesh-files and no obj/3ds file.

And in the texturizer-manual there is no key for such export.

Any idea?

Pontiac

PS: i'm using the texturizer.old.exe because the normal texturizer don't display any geometry

My suggestion: mash your keyboard and see what happens. That's actually how I did it.

I think there might be a key function list somewhere in the CVS. other than that, I've really got no idea.

you have to use the new one (i.e. not the old one) to export the obj file

press 'q' to export it I believe

shift-S might work

Thanks hellcatv,

exporting with the new file is working though i don't see any geometry in the texturizer window.

I remember it being the same as save mesh, which I think was x.......and I'm not sure it has the .obj at the end of the filename....might be .obj.xmesh ?

it is q in the new texturizer executable.

The file name of the obj-file is <name of the xmesh incl. the extension>.obj
