Bigger ship in progress
Some months ago I posted this capship with this texture, now I'm working on an improved UV-map and a better texture.
Is there a place in the vessels & installations page where this ship would fit in?

Also, you may want to try my sggestion about tesselation in this thread. It works like a charm for the clydesdale, and I think your model could use some too, for the supposedly flat surfaces (which are getting smoothed).

@Klauss: full ack. The old version (colored screenies) had around 1300 polies. You can see the glitches (near the engine exhausts) in the screenshot.
The last screenshot shows a state with around 1750 polies, many of the flat areas now look flat.
I am still increasing poly count since this is a capship.
@Flowers: If you want to skin that I can send you the mesh when its done (but it has no uv-map). I can send it to you in wings format or I can convert it into another (obj, 3ds etc.)

You can definitely spare more polygons in doing some detail work on the spires. I would be interested in seeing the "chitinous slabs" look seen along the front edges applied to more of the ships' surfaces. If you'll allow me to nudge you in the Ulnish direction, we can embrace the aesthetics of an decadent monarchy often more interested in form than is at all warranted, perhaps precisely because the performance of many of their craft is somewhat lacking in comparison to those of the major powers. Opulent designs, grandiose, and beyond the means of the Uln to make in great number or even necessarily in entirely sensible proportions. It is worth noting that the Uln survive in some fair part because the biggest threat they pose is the closure of their world to archeologists. That said, the Uln are not an impotent entity, nor their craft non-functional toys for the aristocracy - they are merely quite overmatched, and as such no longer truly competing. Uln capital vessels are entirely constructed with defensive postures in mind, unlike their smaller craft, for which there is substantial revenue potential in supplying opportunist-agreeable vessels to those no other government would do business with.

As for the particular models (assuming we're headed for the Duke and Viceroy):
For the first of the pair, I'd go for turning the small projections on the side into docking regions, and then I'd turn my attention to where I'd want to put all of the (large) missile turrets on the top and bottom (as the Duke is an entirely missile oriented vessel)
As for the Viceroy, I'll wait until you respond as to whether we're going the Duke/Viceroy route in the first place.
