Can we have planetary flight please?
Maby when you intersect with the atmosphere it should run a diff fractual software? It wouldn't be totally seamless... but id be good enough :).

This topic has already been discussed to death (please use the search function), and has been regarded as promising for the future, but not something that will get any amount of effort in the near future.

Also, this does not belong in the artwork forum.

But it's been in the planing for nearly 2 years. I wish someone would code something, doesn't have to be perfect.

It's very, very hard. Flight sim engines are different at the core from space engines, and both are different at the core from FPS engines, even though they are all "3D". There's been a lot of discussion in the features request forum. Sheherazade is working on planetary LOD, but that alone is not enough, because there are problems of precision in the representation. For an engine to be able to span the range magnitudes of a planetary system and then be able to function down to the scale of trees or cows on the ground, it needs to attack representation in a different way from standard engines. It will be done, don't worry. It IS a high priority. Now, please start a thread in the feature request forum if you want to discuss further; or else you'll make me look like an idiot for replying.. ;-)
