So, we appear to be entering into the latter stages of this vetting -

All those opposed to subtitles in general and/or to "Upon the Coldest Sea" in particular are encouraged to speak their minds post haste.

Failing public outcry, we will proceed to selection of "Upon the Coldest Sea".

Me neither... how long will we wait, and maybe we should make update the news so everyone is informed about this.

Since we're at it, I like it too. If everybody likes it, and it's settled... how about updating the website?

I like it.

Maybe we should make a poll? :)
I've stopped playing. I'm waiting for a new release.

I've kicked the MMO habit for now, but if I maintain enough money for an EVE-Online subscription, I'll be gone again.

A poll is a bad idea. The devs have some good brainstorming and feedback, they should just make a decision dictatorship style.

"Upon the Coldest Sea" went into the public vetting stage back in April. While there have been some (rather late in airing) objections, even some fairly reasoned ones, none have been of a remotely damning nature, and we may at present consider the matter closed unless (although I can think of no likely reasons [a google search of "upon the coldest sea" would make infringement claims seem highly unlikely ;-)]) it becomes necessary to open it again.

(spoken in my best "You may fire... when ready" voice):
We should/will update the website as content becomes available.
... okay - so it wasn't anything like the quoted line :-P

If the contest isnt over yet, here's my idea.

In this cold universe, who will live and who will die. The choice is yours.
Vega Strike
Legends of War

or the same intro line and

Vega Strike
Dimensions of War

CubOfJudahsLion wrote: "Lore of the Void". Much less implication of accounts of personal glory, far more clearly referring to past legends and stories. Has a grandiloquent sound to it and the VS universe is fittingly huge. Implied with the word comes a sense of legacy, a ritual of sorts--all of which goes well with Deucalion's mourning pilgrimage and his inheritance of the ship.
I like this (yes, I know I'm commenting too late!), but change one letter: Lure of the Void, implying that the pilot can't stay away..

Makes it sound more like a God game. Especially the tag line... 'who will live and who will die. The choice is yours.' When since did I get point and choose killing abilities in VS?

Perhaps this would be more appropriate:
In this cold universe, you either fight or you die. The choice is yours.

But it's not a War game either?

I think we settled on 'upon the coldest sea' or 'legends of the void'.

Another proposal

Post by hisham »

Hi there,

Are proposals for logos still open? Here's an idea, I think it works well in different backgrounds. (Nevermind the tagline font, I didn't have any good font handy here, this can easily be changed -- suggestions welcome)

Also in lossless format (png)

I can send the original drawing in svg too if desired.

Let me know what you think! Thanks!!

Use Space Age font, or something like that. I must admit it looks a bit garish. Why not something simpler. Simple but with impact. You know...
like the logo of the main adversary ( The Rlaans i would guess, though I still don't like their concept idea - they sound too much like ALIENS in the movie).

Or the symbol of the ancients!!! Then small itty bitty text below... Vega Strike and whatever the subtitle is. I'm not too keen on "Upon The Coldest Sea".

Points for and against it:
PRO:
1.It's poetic
2.It brings to you an image of vast loneliness

CON:
1.It's too long
2."Upon" is not a good word to start something with.
3.The image of vast loneliness I was talking about? Well it could mean an antarctic whaling expedition, for all I know. As something that should evoke stars? space? it's not too good...
4.I know it's probably too late to change the subtitle, but I'm still trying. If I could know the plot (if there's any..) though, I could give you suggestions.

Hey, the first suggestions sounded uncomfortably like my favorite phrase: "A Step Into Oblivion" describing my massive inferiority complex, suicidal thoughts, and general dementia. Don't use it though. It's copyrighted by the Galactic Cremation Corporation. :)
A Step Into Oblivion

Dreams of things that will never be,
Songs of thoughts only I can hear,
Leave me be to sleep forever,
To dream my dreams,
And sing my hymns,
Of things that will never be...
