Of course, it's by no means the submission but I've experimented with the model texturing a bit:

Those stations indeed ROCK
Why don't we make a few challanges (special forum member status/VS-CD/etc.. as award) for the most needed new models in jackS' list?

Someone could post a short description what the models should look like (race style, model details, etc...) and the challange could start.

for the record the stations idea came from the intro for moo2 I think

reason for rings is simple, they offer a better field of view for weapon fire from turrents aswell as the fact any large spaceship or station should spin in battle as it negages the ablity of concentrated fire ruptureing the hull and should any section of the hull be to heavily damaged the stations spin momentum can be brought to a stop keeping the damaged section away from the heaviest fighting(cap ship attacks)
For the record it had capship docking ports and at the point in time I made it you didnt have cap ship docking

long time passed since the last post, and without any intention of being polemic, will the star-fortress in 0.5.0 be the same that in 0.4.3 or will the models seen on this thread be submitted?
