See that you are using Makehuman alpha 7 it is no longer supported the new alpha 8 rc uses a new base mesh and therefore breaks backward compatibility (all the blender support scripts don't work either) I am currently working on Jarek the hauler NPC in the bar at Atlantis and his flight suit will also do a bar tender(female).

Enjoy the Choice :)

Hi loki .
I am not using make human at all .

You probably refer to the tutorial video , that was just one example on how to use the Shrinkwrap modifier
in blender .

I used it here to achieve that suit .
But i used a copy of the body vertices and not a cube for the base mesh to wrap .
Thank you for the information about the versioning , and please send some pictures of
your work !!

Will be starting a Work In Progress thread soon when I have something to show ;) I'm currently putting the two piece sprite files back together so I can start deciding how to use MH's various shapekeys to get the effect I want as the current in game style is almost anime I would like to maintain it.

Enjoy the Choice :)

cool .

I'm working now on a very simple base cockpit for the aeras .
Perhaps a general control system that will apply for different kind of vessels of same class

Did you add a gaze point to your rigging for the first person view,MH has one it's IK based and kinda fun to use 8) Like the control pylon.

Enjoy the Choice :)

No i didn't add a gaze point , i just positionned the camera and tweaked the clip start .
You say MakeHuman has one ?
I will try that .
Thank you loki !

Edit : I want to try to make a space scooter for fun .
Or a light vehicle like the speeders in starwars for terrain exploration .

Something like this :

I have a concept speeder to propose to you .
The cockpit still need to be more realistic and ... safe .
Yeah , i want to keep it open , but add some protections .
And the wings need some reinforcement too .
well it's just a concept art now .

Several of those wee speeders would handy around any ship yard though they would not need to be speedy :D Add some lateral thrusters as well for close manoeuvring, what role do you see them having in-game ship repair platforms, hauling cargo to ships from a base, ground transport.

Enjoy the Choice :)

The first could serve as scout in a planet surface , the second could be a light fighter .
AH, Aera police perhaps .

For now , i'm just playing for fun around the aera mesh to get an idea of minimum cockpit size .
Large vessels will be an other story .
I will try to use physics in blender with the thrusters of the first speeder , just to see how the forces will work.
There is a rudder that could serve in atmospheric flight .
Lateral thrusters are a good idea indeed for in space flight .

Hi, I just wanted to give everyone an update on my progress, as you know I have been dealing with an emergency in real life, but I am finding time to work on the Aera models (and hopefully animations and other species).

I have the Aera model rigged for animation, I also added a UT (Universal Translator) since Aeras do not speak with their mouths.

The UT has two lights that blink when they speak, the upper yellow light for high frequencies and the lower orange light for low frequencies. The UT pictured, of course, is not the only model manufactured but it's a generic version.

Here are some renderings of the Aera Sub-Tundra male in various poses.

Here is the Aera species model rigged for animation:

I will be working on the cockpit next. I still want to play around with the poses so I know the model is rigged correctly for animation before I post it.

PS: I hope these are good/correct enough to be added to the game or VsWiki.

Excellent !
Vega-strike , game of the year 2015-2016 ?

edit :
My opinion is that one of these pictures could be in the ingame Splash screen ,
after a little work around the frame ( mmm ... or the three in one single picture , with Jacks prose ), that would reinforce the very good artworks done at the glory times of VegeStrike .

And bring these times back .
:D

reedit : woaw , your work around the arms is really impressive ! good job !

Thanks, I studied natural movement and the performing arts for most of my life and all around the world. I know how things should pose and move beautifully.

My difficulty at this time is not having enough time to do more complex animation. Typically when I work, I have a crew (in-between-rs), many people who actually do the animation and I set the key frames. I also don't have access to the motion capture studio lately which would really help things.

But I love the challenge of working with an alien creature, no references to go by, and having to simulate physics in my head.

I'll try to get to the comm animations next.

That 03 almost looks real (ie: it would if the lighting wasn't such a dead giveaway).

One of the really nice things about Blender is it's tween algorithm is should handle your rig quite easily you may have to add a few more more keyframes but it should be sweet BTW Blender as gone to version 2.7.I have a folder of bvh files from CMU that I have been have fun with them with MakeHuman's MakeWalk script for Blender and a few Characters I made with MH. I am currently working on Jarek the hauler from the bar at the Atlantis base actually his pressure suit ATM still not that good at the modelling yet  so it may take a while till I get higher on the learning curve

Enjoy the Choice :)

You know, I'm kinda curious as to what an emergency ejection seat would look like separated from its fighter. Would it be some sort of encased tub? Also, what would the straps have to look like for an Aera to be secured to the cockpit?
