LAN Multiplayer System

Post by Laraso »

Hi, those of you who participated in the really old "Multiplayer not working correctly?" thread would have remembered how this came about, but I have never thought of contributing it until now. Basically, I took the normal LAN system and changed it so that it has 10 Planets and 10 Space Stations in total, the stations consisting of 5 different factions.. I don't know if this is considered contributing, or if this was previously done or something, but I felt like giving to the Vega Strike project. This is made for Windows. If you would like to test this out, go to the directory data/.vegastrike/sectors/milky_way.xml/Special and replace the Network.system file with the one provided in the attachment below. Please tell me what you think!

Sure! I will try it. I just need to know where the homeworld system files are for the factions and then I would be happy to give it a go!

Thanks for the link, that was pretty useful. But what I was asking is where is the directory holding the system file for each factions homeworlds. I can't really begin if I don't know where to start. And if there is none, I will just start building one from scratch. :)

Hi Laraso

What do you mean? by :
I can't really begin if I don't know where to start
I guess you want know where is the document who describe each Homeworld system ?
The information are a little bit every where in wiki, on forum
and sometimes you have no information as minor faction
What you can do is
Submit here a "template"
i means for exemple:
"The Aera Homeworld system is":
-ORANGE SUN
-9 planet (3 giant gas....etc as you want)
And normaly a lot of military station/installation as fortress, fighter baracks
-homeworld planet is AENETH: Biosimple planet with 130% of earth gravity (means bigger i think) island more than continent 85%water and heavily protected
with 2 moon .....etc
I don't know if you can set a Homefleet?

check all information in Wikis page can give you more than i can (i m currently in my office ...)
Obviously if you are fluant english is better than me too
Post question

Last advise maybe try to begin by ISO or Minor Faction can give you a training before do some important Faction ?

Sorry I haven't been on lately, schools been getting in the way of things. I understand what you mean, and I will try my best to work on it when I can. :)

EDIT: Fendorin, can we continue this in P.M's? This is getting quite off-topic.
