Transporter... thingie

Post by Sindwiller »

I haven't modelled stuff in a while... so I modelled a transporter... kind of. I initially wanted to make a copy of the Argon Buster but then things got wrong and this abomination was made :) It's just a test model I plan to integrate into VS and play around with.

Not quite finished yet ;o

It might fit in with the Uln as they seem to have an underdeveloped scene of ascetics

Enjoy the Choice :)

Haha good old loki :) I think you mean aesthetics :)
Their ascetics could be underdeveloped too though ;D

I thought that this would be a star trek-esq transporter/teleporter style device.
I think the word you mean is transport or freighter. This would work nicely as a freighter. :)
All I'd do now is make the bridge a bit more square.
If only I could stop and ask for directions...

nono... 'to transport' is the verb, 'transporter' is the person or vessel. Don't worry, I know Latin ;P (derived from transportare -> transporter, -is, I don't care what gender it is.)

I don't like the Star Trek universe though, sorry :) There's just no way I'd do that. (You can abuse it though when I feel like to release the model)

I'll actually have more problems unwrapping this... thing.. rather than figuring out where it might fit in ^^

well, in general sci-fi terminology for ships, a ship that transports freight is usually called a transport or a freighter rather than a transporter (even though that would be technically correct from a linguistics standpoint). Actually, that terminology is often used in the real world too.

Uln Transporter... thingie

Post by pyramid »

There seems to be no official fleet transporter required anymore for the Uln. Their workhorse is the Yeoman. However, according to one of jackS' statements, there is always a need for different type of craft in private hands as long as the style matches the faction, which seems to be the case here.

Yeah, for small, private craft, we're not going to be too picky, but it's also probably not going to be something that players will actually fly - Uln, Forsaken, something made by one and sold to the other -- any of those would seem to work here. Let me know more about what you'd like to do with it and maybe something more definite will come to mind.

I dont want to be too picky here.. but the 'nose' section.. should prolly be redone >.> the rest of the ship is blocky, then attatched to the block is a curving phallus.. its.. no kosher :P

but thats just my silly opinion >.>

Progress on the UV map... 51th increment :?
[19:01] <Erlange> Hmm
[19:01] <Erlange> I know it's just guidelines, but
[19:01] <Erlange> I would, at this juncture, like to mention that it looks like an acid trip

Tricky unwrap or just inexperience  if the later chuck should be able to offer some help.

Both, but I started with a stupid method, then switched to another which was successful :) No problems with the UV, but now I have to texture it... :S
