The base artwork could get added though, right? I've never put any in-game myself, so I'm not sure what kind of work that entails.

The base set is a concourse short of being a Base ;-) But otherwise, it could be...

I'd be tempted just to substitute something like this in until a main concourse is made to go with the rest of the set.

Will we be able to race cars on those highways? Little POD game on the side? :D

In spite of the low poly count I find the shape of these cars delightful. Just the mid section could be a bit longer. I was just thinking, driving the cars would probably need a lot of engine work (controls, etc.), but maybe just being able to take "Auto-Taxis" at some planets... If a part of the plot would require one to visit some place, planet side, like in Priv2, a taxi ride might cost, say, 50 creds, and actually be not a movie, but a real time, 3D animation... Maybe I'm dreaming.

Unless a lot of other people start to help out with development, gotta say, "Dreaming."

This reminds me....

I wonder if this simulates planertary terrain flight at all though I did made thinking that non-seamless terrain flight will actually happen in the near future as such.

I may be wrong.

I remember hellcatv saying it was just a quick VS hack done in his spare time. There were also attempts at planetary flight, but I think he said it used a bad method and didn't work very well, and that the next attempt would be much cleaner. Here are shots of the first attempt, though:

The current problem is, that the planet terrain needs LOD, atmosphere needed to change when entering terrain flight mode so you don't see space all the time.

Bump again. Are these in yet?
(Also could we have 'regular' releases more often so debian etc get's updated)
I especially like that pirate friggate thing and the gas mining modles.

I have a feeling there's an update coming real soon. Klauss's code optimizations and the current game re-balancing will probably trigger it. But you can always get the current (to the hour) version from cvs.

Chuck could you post that path for cvs... please

I think hellcatv already applied it to the cvs. But I'm about to send him another set of patches, since he found some things that could be cleaned up and so I will.

I think he wanted to write 'patch' ;)

And yes, hellcatv checked some changes from klauss in just yesterday(2005.05.11 ~12:00)
They should be available today in the anonymous CVS as well.

There will be a release sometime this summer, although possibly not until late summer. Whether there are additional smaller update releases along the way will depend on the order in which we finish the tasks we're planning to work on, and the degree to which these changes leave things in an enjoyably playable state.

For those players south of the equator, I believe he is talking about northern summer (June 21st - September 21st).

At least I hope so. I don't want to wait until December to March for the next release
