serialized_xml, how to find?

Post by Crypto »

Ok, I am an idiot when it comes to these things. I was reading all about editing your cash and ship type. When I try to find the serialized_xml file, which I was told was to be in the form of a directory, I can't find it.

Some backround information:
I run SUSE linux 64 bit. I have some editing backround.
Please help me :D

It's a within a the hidden folder called .vegastrike-0.5  so set your file manager to see hidden folders/files in Gnome it's "ctrl h" and the same under KDE and Dolphin i bookmark it for easy access that is also the folder where vegastrike.config is.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Theoretically, could I change the damage that each gun does?

Also, where do I go to get a capital ship?

Is it under save? If so, how do I open that/ with what do I open that?

You can the relevant file is units.csv or for just your ship the .csv file in the current save folder in serialized_xml which holds your ships there is a tool for editing our .csv file in this thread
Now as for capital ships the only one that is available to players is the Clydesdale that you can find on Ice and Trantor class planets but they are rare so won't show up on every visit and you will find that due to the fact that we model physics quite closely they are not all that fun to fly BTW the Clyde is 2 km in length so it does no turn on the proverbial dime or manoeuvrer like a fighter.

Wait...

I can't locate the serialized_xml at all!

In the file, all I see is six folders containing sectors and one playlist, music files, and two text documents named "save.txt", and ".system". Neither of which I can open...

I have vega strike 0.5.0, if that helps...

If the save file is indeed it, any programs I need to open it?

Also, are their directions/ a map to get to those planets?

The folder should be within that hidden folder in your home folder not the one in systemland as that gets copied in each user's account so it only exist after having actually run the game and creating a save within the game.

to edit ur cash and stuff..

go to vegastrike directory... then click on the .vegastrike-0.5.0 (something like that with a . in front)..
after that go to save.
locate ur savegame - the name u named the savegame will be the name for your savegame file.

next.

look in the 1st line of the savegame file (open it with notepad or whatever program capable of opening text files).
u will see ur ship's name (if u r new u should have a llama.begin).
and between ^ is the money you have.

change the ship's name and the stuff between the carats (^) to get ur money.. and ur ship. :D
