Hey,

I just got Ubuntu Linux (my other computer is no good any more, due to technical difficulties...) and I tried to install Privateer Remake and I have no clue of what to do...

I have the RUN File on my desktop, but I don't know what to open it with or extract it for that matter, is it similar to a executable???

Can anyone help me with this matter...

After I get this Installed I am going to get Parallel Universe added so if anyone can give me tips for that while your at it that would be great...

One last thing is my computer fast enough for the game this is a different laptop than my newer Dual Core processor machine... some specs on my current machine are in my signature...

If it is the same as the vegastrike installer you don't need to run it as root as the engine is quite happy running in user land.Easier to hack things as well

Enjoy the Choice :)

I'm sorry for the lack of know how...

I am not familiar with Linux at all...

Every thing I save/download is saved to my desktop...

So there is a RUN file there and I can't open it or extract it or anything, it just sits there so...

I kinda need help in dummy terms...

So if anyone who is familiar with linux can help me that would be greatly appreciated...

Yes, to open it you have to set it to an "executable". This is a security precaution so that you can't accidentially run anything as a program.

To do that from the GUI, right click on it, go to properties and permissions and look for "executable" permissions. Set it to be executable for everyone.
