Okay First Topics:

GENERAL MUSIC REQUIREMENTS:

I. Length?
1)Full tracks (With distinct beginnings and endings?)
2)Loopable SHORT tracks (about 1-2 mins?). I'll go for this as it's easier for transitions.

II.Music Backgrounds/Genre

A)HUMANS
Humans:
CONFED - something ominous maybe... @mike ducharme I ahve listened to your previous contribution and what made that unacceptable is that it was literally a theme. The track is more than suitable for Confed Stations but not as background music for pilots, get what I mean . We should make music for the PLAYERS not for the faction NPC's. Just my take on the subject. :P no offense intended. So Confed music must still remain a bit martial but please lessen the appearance of big band instruments (snares and cymbals).

That's it I think for now. Humans are far more factionalized than other existing races and I urge to factionalize human music at the earliest stage.

The following might help. Ideas for some major faction music:

ANDOLIAN: Oriental. Andolians are of eurasian origin. They are a bit xenophobic because of fear of infection from other humans (tho they are quite probably thefriendliest human faction), and very gregarious.

PIRATE: Something wild... ;)

FORSAKEN: middle eastern.

MERCHANT: indian (the subcontinent)?

UNADORNED: Synth techno. i.e. more beeps. Think of the unadorned as math nerds who regard mathematics as religion.. literally.

MECHANIST: Industrial techno.

LIHW: Any other human indigenous music. LIHW= League of Independent Human Worlds.

PURIST: I ahve no idea at the moment... Antitechnology... any ideas?

SHAPER: Classical. Piano, violin and stuff.

HIGHBORN: Celtic. bagpipes most welcome. @Bjorneredtail, cellos too. :D

B)RLAANS
Something relaxing and sloow. Incorporate sounds of whales and dolphins. Don't know what they are? The sound the spirits amde in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

C)AERA
Tribal percussion :?: Rlaans came from a jungle homeworld...

D)ULN
The last major group. I don't know what music is appropriate. The Ulns are feudal. But not "Lords and Ladies feudal", more like "Aztec Death Priests and Slaves" kind of feudal.

Okay that's all for now.

To make everything clear, it was the Aera, that came from jungles.

Offtopic, but is it right for a centauroid to live in a jungle? (I mean, jungles make moving problematic for (i suppose) quite large scaled horse-like creatures.) Maybe that's why they destroyed their jungles... :P

Hi,

I want to confer with the rest of the creative section before we post up an official call for themes..

I've opened up a thread discussing what should be included in a call for themes announcement.. Please move this discussion there:

No offense taken, as I didn't compose that Confed theme for Vega Strike. It would not work at all in the game as it is totally the wrong mood. The reason it is called "VS Confed Main Theme" on my personal music site when it is not for Vega Strike is a bit of a long story.. I sent you that long story via private message in case you're interested.

 Thanks Kangaroo22, I was a bit harried when I wrote that... AGAIN. That was actually the second draft of thepost, the first one disappeared down the drains in a blackout while I was still typing.

So okay, let's agree on the theme length first.

Which?

1) Full length

2) Loopable (length still to be deliberated)

please consider the difficulty in creating the theme, the ease of track switching when ingame atmosphere changes, the availability of composers who can make those kind of themes and etc.

choose wisely. Vote ME for president of the Confederation of Inhabited Worlds.

@Mike, please make this a poll(?)

BTW: I have listened to some of madsen's music and some of those loopable themes are really suitable to what I imagine VS music to be.

and again BTW: My personal vote goes to 2) for short and sweet. :P
