Here is some stuff I'm working on to use in Vega Strike.

If you like them then feel free to use them in your own.

Track 1. Depression Chamber ------ sounds best for Atlantis oceanic planet
http://www.m1ck.dsl.pipex.com/DepressionChamber.ogg

Track 2. Docking Procedures
http://www.m1ck.dsl.pipex.com/DockingProcedures.ogg

(Launch3chatstart)

Track 3. Mega CLouds
http://www.m1ck.dsl.pipex.com/MegaClouds.ogg

(Launch2)

Track 4.Spaceport
http://www.m1ck.dsl.pipex.com/Spaceport.ogg

I use this one instead of lightslease_p

it ends suddenly so it will play seemlessly in Vega Strike

I just overwrite the files in the music folder

Don't panic. I downloaded them, but I'll have to get home before I can listen. That means the reply will have to wait until tomorrow.

Nice work with Depression Chamber.
The other ones... not of my liking, but not badly done (just not my style). And, too little dynamic range. To the point of Docking procedures being almost clipped.

ok thanks for that. docking procedures, yea i think i need to drop to volume somewhat, maybe run it through a limiter to even out the mix. Not to your liking, thats fair enough.

thanks for taking the time to listen though Klauss....much appreciated.

If I have more time later I could be more specific about what I didn't like about those, and what could be improved. It's just that I didn't have time to listen to it carefully.

I like. No real complaints, though IMO the chattering in the docking song was a bit obtrussive.

Overall, I prefer ambient music that is more in the background, but thats just me.

yea i think i'd have to agree with you about the chatter because after the 3rd or 4th time of hearing it it might get a bit repetetive.

But i can lower the volume so it can hardly be heard.

i'm really liking this stuff, especially the first and the last one. Its exactly what I think of when i hear "ambient"

For the third one - I think you could of gotten some nicer synth sounds than you used. (You'll find out i'm the guy who is nazi about synth sounds if you hang around long enough)... but for the last one you did (spaceporT), i think the sounds you used are awesome. Really helps with the futuristic sense. And its very basic, so it all fits in the background, while helping fill in the sound of the game and set the mood.

For the second one, I'm not soo sure about the trance lead you are using - something like that needs to be fit in with other instruments imo. But that could just be me.

And for the first one, track is great, but again the synthy sounds don't strike my fancy. With some nicer sounds and a lot more effects, it would be awesome.

Out of curiosity, what did younuse to put these tracks together? if its a software synth i wouldn't mind playing around with it to see what types of sounds i can get... the sounds remind me more of a keyboard tho than a software synth so i think it could be wishful thinking.

I used reason 3.0 to put the tracks together...still learning to use it actually as there's a lot of stuff in their to get to grips with.

m1ck:

Reason is awesome. If you can, try to get a hold of a tutorial CD, they really help.

As for the chattering, that would probably be done on a seperate track, no?

Yes I did put the chattering on 2 separate tracks 1st track was put through a flanger and phaser and the other was left dry.

I will upload an updated version of spaceport in a bit.

I meant that in the game, radio chatter in general will probably have its own dedicated track.
