What I listen to (FWIW!)

Post by Pilot67 »

After I read that the players could tweak the in-game music I went nuts.
I added a lot of music and turned off the majority of VSs default music.
I'm not a musician, but I think it may be worth a bit to share what I listen
to if only as a potential source of inspiration to an artist (hey it could happen).

For peace I use a few pieces by Brian Eno, Harold Budd, and Robert Fripp ("Their
Memories", "Evening Star", "Flowered Knife Shadows" to name a few titles).
I would strongly recommend the artists here check out a piece by Irmin Schmidt
& Bruno Spoerri called "Rapido de Noir" -if that doesn't say "you're in a space
ship going really really fast avoiding the occasional catastrophy", I don't know what does ;]
I've also used some of the Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack to the film "Alien",
some heavy metal for battles ("Death Valley" by Boris), and you'd be suprised how
appropriate Nora Jones' "Come Away With Me" sounds on the bridge of a languishing
Goddard.
I think the in-game music should always have an edge -never be "at ease" -not while
the ship's in space, anyway. There should always be the feeling hey --you're in space,
it's super dangerous, and you could die really soon if you're not careful.
Thanks for reading and for the work y'all do.

Good choice,
I like a lot of Brian Eno's stuff, haven't really listened to much of harold budd though.
I'd also go for a bit of Vangelis, Tangerine dream(maybe), John Serrie etc..
