I'll try and manually bring it closer to Tiny Pinting's final version.

Or I can export the latest version for you.

It worked for me.

Thanks to Phlogios for that obj export.
Now I got the Real McCoy. Same story of mesh corruptions, though. Lots of infinitesimally thin triangles and stuff; probably Wings ideosyncracies.

Alright, here's the Real McCoy Toad Hammer mesh cleaned up:

Old screenshot for comparison:

Here's a shot with subsurf at level 3, just to show it subsurfs gracefully:

Wonderful job. Btw, the official name of this Lamborghini of the future is Hammer (not Toad, which was the old name).

Is the thing now open for texturing by somebody else?

I like the (misused?) term "Toad Hammer"

It's not unwrapped yet. I'd also like to do it CineMut-ishly, but once it's unwrapped, maybe someone else can generate artistic paint layers for it, like tiny_paintings did, then I can throw the paintings into the LaGrande texture stack.

@Phlogios:
A "toad hammer" I suppose would be a soft hammer for use on toads in lab experiments designed to test the applicability of Pavlovian theory to amphibians?

unwrappe first

: all vertice draw with 1 black pixell on white bakground
2048 maximum ( more my computer cant work)

and i preconise 1024 is better

when you unwrap try to seam all form they can be seam together
try to don't multiplicate the object like gun or some think like that

and send me the file in png. before saturday with the blend. file too ( for testing of course)

thank

Isn't 1024x1024 a little big for such a small ship?

A 512x512 map can go really far, which has been proven on the Demon model in the PU dataset.

Minor tweaks to try and make it look closer to the original.

@Fendorin: Thanks! I seriously doubt I will finish the unwrap before Saturday. Usually takes me a few days to unwrap a ship. I'll try...

EDIT:
And I forgot, I still got a cockpit interior to do.

is a kind of method : make it in 1024 and after reduce to 512 and your texture map is twice more nice!!!

just kind of method

More tweaking...
It took a few extra cuts here and there, but it's worth it, IMO; subsurfing and shading very nicely now.

toad.blend updated. (Keeping the same name for now. Anyways, if the name is Hammer in Vegastrike, it'll be Toad in PU ;-))

Okay, cockpit...

I learned something when i worked in China:

when you have something to do :

-make it earlier
-make it quick
-don't ask you some question
-make it in one time (mean not in few day)
-give you a "appointement with yourself" (i don't know if it's english)
-never do other thing in same time
-never watch behind you
-finish it
-10 minute for enjoy your final job
-begin straight the way with another job......

So that's the secret of the Chinese! I'm going to print that out and hang it on the wall.
Always wondered how they do so well in school and in business.

Anyways, cockpit progressing; or... I hope so...
Is this what shapers look like when they think no one's looking? :D

That's right; this is probably the closest viewing distance:

(Saturday!)
Like I said, probably not; even working like 7 Chinese people I wouldn't finish before Saturday.
And, did I mention I hate unwrapping?
Actually, before unwrapping I need to assign materials...

i m just worried about :even when ship was presented :blank it fall in hole of forget (indeed is more like a rule :all ship presented in blank will falling in hole of forget)

and if you hate unwrapping is a good reason to follow the way's of asian efficient.

For this unwrap, you might need something stronger than wine.

As I was just telling my room-mate, the best thing about being a non-drinker is you get drunk so easily! I'm half way through the bottle and already shit-faced :D

The unwrap is going well; nothing to show, tho. Well, I'm not really unwrapping yet; more like "test-unwrapping"; --seeing that the seams are in the right places by trying automatic unwraps, one material at a time; and fixing the seams as necessary.

Now, if you were talking about chemicals other than alcohol, they do nothing much for me; I've tried them all. Well, maybe amphetamines would, but I'd rather stay away from that; and you can get the same effect from free form aminoacids; --3 grams of Phenilanine taken in the morning on an empty stomach; no down.
