Basic Install guide

Okay guys, it's obvious to me that you have been at this for some time, and I admit I'm brand new to this. I am surprised you haven't stickied a basic install guide for newbs somewhere. After trying a few searches of the forums I'm still lost so I figured I'd just ask.

1) Is this patched to the original game?
2) If not, to what is it patched?
3) Does this work with the Righteous Fire expansion?

What I'm really asking for is a basic step by step guide to install the game (without abbreviations) and all the basic components (if you must abbreviate then at least provide a key for those who are very new).

Lastly, I'm amazed this project exists. I really liked the original, but wasn't too fond of the sequel.

It Is a complete remake of the game on the vegastrike engine.

3) Does this work with the Righteous Fire expansion?

Yes It comes with Rigteous Fire and some extra fan made campaigns.

My suggestion is this: First play remake. Then try PU. Then play GG. Gemini Gold is really hard. If you are not at least somewhat used to the vegastrike engine you won't like it.

I have often wondered this myself. How about doing an update in the Privateer Remake Library thread. I imagine this is where most newbs would look. Or a new sticky, and whichever, keep them (the install instructions and/or order), updated as new mods are released, especially now that we are getting quite a few little ones all over the place.

From what I either got or have read about you can buy:
Tarsus(as in buy more than just your starting one)
Orion
Galaxy
Centurion
Drayman(as deprecated on oxford after MAterson missions, anywhere as merchant after original game plot)
Paradigm(as deprecated at perry naval base after main plot, only time you can buy one)
Talon(after tayla missions)
Demon(after Palan missions)
Dralthi(don't know when, but im pretty sure you can buy them at some point)
Salthi(after RF missions, I think)
Broadsword(after main plot)
Stilletoe(ditto)
Gladius(ditto ditto)
If I missed any, or messed up on the list, feel free to correct.


Level four reactors can't be put on centurions until the RF campaign.
Level nine reactors go on orions, during the RF campaign
Max upgrades depend on the ship.
buy autotrackers. They make the hurt go away.
Dumbfires are awesome.
