sound

i am an old fella that used to play priv when it first came out.it is good to see it back again being reborn.i am having sound problems,no voice and no music.have soundblaster audigy2 soundcard.everything else is perfect.any help would be appreacted.

@oldman51au what OS do you run if linux sound setup can be tricky usually only sound effects or music woork.so more info will be needed to resovle your sound issue

thanks for quick reply,running win xp home service pack 2,p4 3ghz,asus motherboard,256 leadteck video card,2 gig ram and soundblaster audigy 2.
i get weapon sounds but nothing else.have tried to increase sound through keys on keyboard but no good.have enabled sound in setup of game but still no good.have downloaded latest sound drivers so not the problem.

in that case lets have a look at stdout.txt and stderr.txt they in the bin folder with the exec look near the begining for reference to the soundsever that should give us what the engine is trying to do

i think i have right file.i could only find one file.

not much there but it looks like the sound sever is initializing but not makeing a connection just a thought is your loop-back interface open since that is what the sever uses to connect to the sound card and there really should be stdout and stderr in the bin folder with the sound-sever one, have you tried all of the options with sound with in the setup app.that's all i can think of ATM wihout stdout & err

there was no stderr.txt in the bin folder.i will try other sound settings and give that a try.thanks for all your help.happy gaming.

there has been an issue with the XP firewall blocking the loopback interface so you check your firewall settings for surity

yeah i read that on the forum and gave it try but no go.i am going try dosbox and see if that might work.thanks for all your input.
