I've made the BroadSword an experimental platform for some of the ideas planned for the upgraded Drayman. Among these :
* missile capacity to sustain a barrage of FF & HS missiles
* expanded cargo hold for 1-2 fighters
Turrets, the Broadsword already has. What I'm finding out is that if the right combo is there missiles/fighters/turrets then you stand a good chance of surviving a hostile encounter (no matter how slow, big and vulnerable you may be)
The approach I'm trying when faced with multiple enemy fighters is something like this:
1) Missile barrage, as many as you can fire - this usually takes out a couple of bogeys
2) Eject fighter (s) or order them to rush forward & attack
3) Place all turrets in fire-at-will mode
The forward heavy guns on the Broadsword are almost an afterthought. When you're this big & slow it's unlikely you'll turn fast enough to bring them around fast enough.
Am having a hard time though tractoring my escorts back into the cargo hold - anybody have techniques and/or commands to make this process easier ?

The Talon-S (Sparrowhawk) with improved shields & equipment is now a viable escort. It partners well with the Tarsus Mk2, for every 2000 tons of cargo hold space I would recommend 2 TMk2's & 3 T-s.
The modified Tarsus is still the tougher escort, nimble , hard to hit and with more firepower but it can't chase down targets fleeing at 1000kph or get to a spot as quickly as the TS.
Imho, with these two ships in your cargo hold you probably have the wingmen part of the mission pretty much covered. Other fighters have more guns, missiles, armor & even speed but with a DCV (assuming 7k cargo hold) you can field 7 TMk2's & ~11 T-s escorts.
That's a hell lot of firepower & numbers, even if you load up on Dralth's & Gothri's using the rationalized cargo value system you probably couldn't match this.

Is there any way to fix this?z30 wrote:The afterburners don't work the usual way on the BroadSword & Drayman - the ship actually deceleratesmicheal_andreas_stahl wrote:Try adding afterburners
And whats this about the "Talon-s"?

I suspect that one of the python modules has this logic restriction in it. At this point I don't want to alter the program logic unless it's to add features.micheal_andreas_stahl wrote:Is there any way to fix this?z30 wrote:The afterburners don't work the usual way on the BroadSword & Drayman - the ship actually deceleratesmicheal_andreas_stahl wrote:Try adding afterburners

The Talon-S is the Sparrowhawk (modified Talon) I was discussing in the Tarsus Mk2 thread.
