You know it's just a WIP, we're looking for suggestions to play around with to beautify the texture.

NICE!!!
When will the next GG version be released, BTW?
I never thought the Galaxy to be ugly, but in my mind it doesn't look like a transporter. More like some sort of gunship. The ship simply seems to be to small (compared to its cockpit) to hold much cargo....zbyszanna wrote:I've never liked galaxys looks. Mmmmmm. It has a certain...Millenium Falcon look to it. Very nice. Is it available to download or anything, to put into the game yet, or is too unfinished?

I love playing Wing Commander so much I don't know what to do.
I PLAY THEREFORE I AM!
Thats all the proof I need to know that I exist!

Do you have specmaps and glowmaps for it, and you couldn't get them ingame, or you just don't have them?
If it's the latter, you should try creating a few. Specmaps need some artful playing with the diffuse texture - first playing with contrast, then drawing on top of it to further decorrelate (but not too much) the two images. Glowmaps, however, in such a small ships, are pretty easy to do and obvious: perhaps engine glow, or a few glowing greebles. Not too fancy, but even a few tiny glowing spots would add a lot of coolness.
If you have them but can't get them ingame, then I'm your man. I can get them working in a few seconds.

Ditto. It may be classified as a merchantman vessel but with 2 fixed weapon slots, 2 missile slots and 2 turrets it reminds me more of the British Mosquito bomber in WW II.Spaceman Spiff wrote:NICE!!!

The latter had enough payload to be a light bomber but had the agility to be dangerous in a dogfight.
In a convoy, you'd probably have the several Galaxy vessels guarding the flanks of the larger transport.cargo ships. You'd also want them to be the first to jump into a potentially dangerous jump point, right behind the first escort wave of fighters.
Love the new model, who says it's only fighter jocks who get to have cool looking ships ?
