No matter what system I'm in it seems like ships are always spawning directly on top of me. I just started over because a mission went bad (I was scanning objectives and died; then the objectives became to scan ships, which turned out to be a nightmare PITA) and it almost seems like it's happening more than ever before, but I think that's just because it happens all. the. time. Like, maybe every third to fifth (at the outside) trip between the ocean planet and the mining base, something spawns on top of me.
Now, it's good practice to save every time you can, but this is ridiculous. Is this just a known issue? I had a hard time finding any info on it.
Ships constantly spawning on top of me :(

I'm on 0.4.3/linux
It seems to be happening much much less now. But I'm serious, they were very regularly spawning directly on top of me, usually one out of two trips.
I think I was just lucky, but there's no way to tell for sure now.

@drinkypoo from an earlier post you mentioned that you are on dail-up with a bad connection to boot i assume that you decided on the stable version 0.4.3 for that reason and yes there is a spawning issue with it there is a work around that involves editing one of the Python functions so if you are up for that let me know

Yeah, I would love that, I haven't even got around to trying to build SVN yet because I still have to get the data - I only got the code. I found the instructions about that after I'd got back home to my modem. Probably this week I will try 0.5, but in case it doesn't work, I should probably fix my 0.4.3. I will also pass the information along to the Ubuntu package maintainer once I have it working here.loki1950 wrote:@drinkypoo from an earlier post you mentioned that you are on dail-up with a bad connection to boot i assume that you decided on the stable version 0.4.3 for that reason and yes there is a spawning issue with it there is a work around that involves editing one of the Python functions so if you are up for that let me know 8)
I decided on the stable version because Ubuntu has a package in universe/games :D

Ok then that work around can be found here http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/forum ... 8226#48226 it moves the spawn distance to a survivable value
