Framerate Drop-off when looking at planets

Post by eddit »

On SVN 11648 I'm getting significant framerate drop-off (from 60 to 20) when planets are in my field of view. This disappears if I select "Simplest shader". I do get a framerate drop-off when observing stations with "Average" and "Nicest" shaders, but i need to be pretty close.

I'm running windows XP with a nForce 405 (that's GeForce 6100).

Yes, planets need specialised shaders, and the engine isn't supporting that (specialised shaders for some unit / unit types). Depending on your card, planets may need prettier shaders (if you have enough power), or simpler ones, since they take the whole screen usually (ie: with a 6100).
