Colour Array In The Middle Of Deep Space

I was going through a system one day, and when I turned my ship at certain angles, there was this massive, long rectangle-like thing and it had loads of differant coloured squares that made it up... It looked like the end of it were sticking through the space backround.


I pressed print screen and was going to save a screenshot of it onto paint, then upload it. But my sister wanted to go on the PC before I had a chance...


What I want to know is, has anyone else encountered this before. And if so, what is it.......?
