HUD Text Scrolling

Post by cap601 »

Whenever I start up VegaStrike the HUD text appears to "scroll" resulting in the text being unreadable. I have a video of this behaviour but I cannot upload it due to its size (23MB dropping to 19MB in 7z format). This is with SVN 11177 (pre-built exe). This has happened on earlier revisions but only when the whole game has gone unstable.

Are you talking about messages disappearing after a few seconds? On the top, when something (or a system message) happens it will disappear in a few seconds.

You can use Page Up and Page Down keys to get back to them.

Can you just take a cockpit screenshot and draw with Paint where the scrolling is happening?
I'm not exactly sure where you mean.

Sorry about being unclear. Here is a screenshot showing the effect. The effect is in all the garbled text areas, the contents of which change very quickly giving the impression of very fast scrolling. It may be worth noting that the same effect occurs when viewing the message log via Page Up (picture).

Hope that helps.

A picture is defiantly much better that words does indeed look like a bug maybe the pointers to the strings are getting scrambled :? some way.

It certainly looks that way, doesn't it...

Well that's the scrambling effect that the nebula causes on your HUD display.

Maybe that shouldn't look so buggy though.

If that's the case is it a bug that the effect did not end on leaving the nebula (and the system)? It took saving outside the area and restarting Vegastrike to fix the problem.

I have noticed too much scrambling myself now that you mention it.
It was supposed to happen sometimes in the cargo manifest if you are vastly different speeds with someone (SPEC).
