The ships keeps turning to the left? (Windows 98)

When playing, the ship keeps turning to the left, as if I had jammed my left cursor key down. Pressing right causes the spin to slow down and left the spin to increase. What could be causing this?

maybe a joystick is setted up, but not used (so VS is getting random data)
Try to run the setup.exe and turn of the josystick entries.

i have one in my menu

to completly getting rip of joystick just edit your vegastrike.config-file and delete all lines between every occuring
