Hi, was wondering if there is a workaround for the following problem? When I start up vega strike instead of seeing the ship inside its docking bay, I see a series of streaks instead. All is fine after I leave the station.
I have an iMac DV (400MHz, 512 Mb RAM, ATI Rage 128 pro).
Cheers

this is a known problems
it's an error in ATI's drivers
there is no known fix
but the workaround is to right clicK (control click) to select the different options in teh docking bay
spaceflight works just dandy--and so does the trading console
the docking bay even looks good some of the time

Re: graphics problems on iMac
Editing the config file to reduce the screen resolution can resolve this problem, at the expense of lower detail. (Workaround tried and tested on iBook with ATI card and similar problem, max. resolution working 640x480 at 32bpp).will wrote:instead of seeing the ship inside its docking bay, I see a series of streaks instead. wow! I didn't know this...
well at least we have a workaround
guess ATI's drivers get busted when the framebuffer is too big to have neough memory to hold the landing port texture or something
thanks for the post
lets add this to the wiki

Yes, for some reason the frame buffer overflows into the texture memory, which leads in some case to an amusing view of your ship on the landing pad and a series of smaller versions that march up the screen. The iBook card was slow enough to show this happening taking half a second to fill the screen with ships.
