News Text Being Squashed

I've finally got the SVN working, and it's great except for one minor annoyance. The most, like 80%, of news stories seem horizontally squashed to the point they are unreadable. I've tried all three text types and it seemed to have no effect. This is an issue I've observed for a long time, although I am on windows using the SVN version, it was a problem on my old Mac 0.5.0 version as well.
