Great looking game, but I can't get started.

There is no layered text on my game. The HUD is graphical only, and transaction menus are blank. Screenshots follow:

Like this user, I am running mac OSX. Game version is 0.5. System specs are as follows:

Previous entry suggests:

1) updating system - tried, I'm already updated
2) missing fonts - not knowing what fonts may be required, I don't know how to get at them (or install them for that matter).

Try running vssetup and picking different detail levels. AFAIR, the highest level uses bitmap fonts, which seem to trigger a bug in your driver (there's no other explanation for the missing text), if you pick lower levels, it switches at some point to vector fonts, which may play better with your driver.
